What light are you guys carrying along side your CRK?

Love me my Zebra Light sc52l2.

Single AA, 6 light modes, strobe, beacon, battery check, and 300 lumens max setting.

What is the sc5212? Did you mean SC52? I have the SC52 and it's an awesome light as well. I also picked up the newer SC5 that's a single aa and puts out 500lm on a regular eneloop instead of needing a lithium rechargeable 14500 to do it. Little bit more bulky than the older SC52, but a great light nonetheless.

Here's a picture of the SC52 next to the SC5 along with my Sebenza and my new Sig P938.

I'm not sure what the difference is between the normal sc52 and sc52 L2? This one is a white light opposed to neutral. Perhaps the LED bulb used is different? The AA sc5 looks great! I also have the 1100 Lumen 18650 Zebra Light in neutral.

Someday... If I do get one I'd like to order custom so I get just what I want. Is the sapphire lens with the extra money?

In the meantime here's what's with me every day.

I have two HDS lights and neither have the sapphire lenses. Neither have any scratches or damage from the 3 plus years they have been carried. So in my most humble opinion the sapphire lenses are not necessary. Save the money and buy some extra batteries.😉

I gotcha. I thought you meant SC5212 instead is SC52 L2. Just got the typing mixed up. Love the Zebralights though. Very solid

Easy mistake! I could have been more clear.

Do you find yourself reaching for the SC5 more than the sc52?

To be honest I've been on a pretty crazy light buying spree lately so I've had something different in the pocket every few days. I'm up to about 30 lights that were bought from January 1 of this year. Lately I'm on the titanium which most recently "last week" I picked up the Fenix RC09ti, which is great, the Lumintop Tool Ti, which also is pretty cool, and the week before was the Eagletac D25Ati that's pictured in my first post.

As far as which light I have grabbed more, the SC5 or SC52, I have to say the SC52 because of its slightly smaller size. I run a 14500 lithium ion in the SC52 so it bumps the output up to where the SC5 is and runtimes are very similar running a 14500 in the SC52 and an Eneloop in the SC5. I love both lights and I will probably get more use out of the SC5 during the colder months because I can get away with carrying bigger edc gear when I have more clothing on. For summer months I've really been digging the SC52, the Eagletac D25A Titanium, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to get quite a bit of use out of the little Lumintop Tool ti that I just got.

These small edc lights are every bit as addictive as knives once you get going on them. There are so many great lights out there, and I haven't even touched the custom lights yet. An edc light is every bit as useful, if not more, than having a knife on you. I've found that if I leave the house without grabbing a light I feel naked.

That's a handful of torches! I've yet to get a Ti light myself. Copper has been on my radar. I just pulled the trigger for the copper 4sevens preon 1. You're absolutely right as far as gear/gadgets being just as addicting as knives. I've owned a handful of lights and have found that I prefer AA/AAA pocket lights. The 18650 sits pretty in my EDC backpack for hikes and desert trips. I'll have to check out some of the names you dropped here.

It's been a while since I've been active on BFC (~4yrs) despite being a member since 2009.

Since hopping back on I've purchased a new to me spyderco military, ESEE 6, copper preon 1, and soto torch lighter.

"Registered Users" should just be changed to "Enablers."

I am with you in that I prefer the aa/aaa sized lights for edc, but I do pocket carry some single cr123 lights as well, which some are just as small as some of the aa lights. in the winter months I'll pocket carry a single 18650 light like the Olight S2, Olight S30RII, Nitecore P12, and the 2xcr123 Streamlight Protac 2L. Those are my bigger lights and I can get away with a bigger light when I have more clothing on, but in the summer it's great to have a good variety of aa/aaa and single cr123 lights to carry. My favorites are "OLight" S1,S10R,S15R "Fenix" LD09,E12,LD02 "Streamlight" microstream, stylus pro, "Nitecore" EC11,EA11 "Zebralight" SC52,SC5 "Eagletac" D25A,D25C "Lumintop" Tool ti, and a bunch of others but that should at least give you a few to look at that work well, have great designs, and good output and user interfaces. Good luck and hold onto your wallet.

Fantastic!

More to drool over and possibly explore.

I picked up the Maratac Rev 2 cr123 in stainless from county comm (first cr123 light) and the 4Sevens Preon 1 (AAA) in copper.

I've been wanting a Copper Prometheus Beta QR for the longest time and just about pulled the trigger on one until I came across the Preon 1 in copper. $19 cheaper, includes pocket clip, 15 more lumens, and a nice clicky. I'll probably end up with a QR down the road, but the extra savings went right into the Maratac. haha The intro sale has them priced at $60 vs the eventual $75. Would have loved copper, but they're sold out.

I might have to take a back seat on looking up all those torches you just listed. I might find myself with too many mail calls. (said no one, ever.)

These two are pretty much going to be buried with me ;)

I wish Henry were still putting holes in his lights and you were still making those awesome deep carry bezel down clips Chip!!

Hey guys this is a honest question because I just don't know. So do you guys carry these lights for work, hobbies , walking in dark streets or just cause they are cool and look awesome which I think a lot of them do? I'm 40 and the reason I ask is I can count on 1 hand how many times I've really needed a flashlight in my everyday life besides when I was in the army and out in the field. I can see Leo's or emts firefighters but the eveyday Joe is kinda what I'm asking. Agian the lights are cool but with keys, knife, change, wallet and cell phone my pockets are busy along with a pistol on my belt. Just wondering thanks in advance.

I dont use my light every day, but Ive used it enough to justify carrying it. I go for walks in the evening, and in the winter, its dark when I leave for work, and sometimes dark when i get home. I see it as one of those things, like a pistol, that has no substitute. And, it gets dark every single day, without fail.

I never carried a light until a couple years ago and really thought the same way you do. However it's one of those things that once you start carrying it you will be surprised at how many times you actually will use it. Can you get by without, sure. But I find myself using them more than I ever thought I would.

Just like carrying a pistol. How many times have you actually had to pull it out and use it? Most will say none. But it's nice having it there just in case. Lights are similar but you will absolutely end up using it more than you think. Just like all our edc gear, it's also a cool hobby because of all the different styles out there. I would've never though I'd have over 30 edc flashlights but I do now.

I would recommend you giving it a shot. Just like a pocket knife it doesn't take up much space, my daily light just rides in the opposite side of my knife clipped to my pocket. Now if I leave the house without one I feel naked and unprepared. There are lots of situations where a light will help support the use of a CCW pistol or knife. If you're in a big box store and the power goes out or in some kind of attack where power is lost then the light comes out and supports the pistol. I know that's an extreme situation but there are many other times that a light comes in handy in everyday life. For example. Walking the dog, reading a menu in a dark resteraunt, finding something you dropped on the ground at night or under the seat of a car, checking under the hood during a breakdown, even things like going to the bathroom in the house in the middle of the night.

I will admit that the cool factor is a big reason I collect and carry lights, but I use them more than I ever thought I would. Check them out and give one a try. I promise you will find yourself using it more than you think.

Lol. I never have thought that I'd be carrying a flashlight with me all day too, even with day light. It's surprisingly useful at work, it is also pretty awesome to carry a beautiful light and admire it from time to time. :)

I am now looking into getting my first custom. Either a HMW Trident, Tain Aura, or maybe an Okluma... Hoping to get one in my pocket pretty soon.

Right on guys thanks for all the info I might check it out what would be a good place to start not to derail a thread just seems like a lot of info and knowledge on the subject.
