What light weight slim fixed blades do your wives (significant others) have?

I'm wanting to get my wife a nice fixed blade knife. She definitely doesn't want my BK-7... thankfully! She wants something light weight and comfortable. And, if she wears it on her belt, she wants it to hang tightly up against her body.

What do you the ladies like?

I'm thinking 4" or less, fairly thin handle, and a nice sheath. I'm also looking at the $50ish range, so no F1 or WM1.

Woo. Fast response! I was thinking about a Mora as well. But I've never handled one. From looking at them, the handles seem to be pretty bulky looking... not true?

And I do like the looks of the RAT-3. Belt/neck sheath is a nice option too.

A RAT is much bulkier then a mora. Moras handles will fit very well in a womans hand, and she will barely notice the weight. Easy to sharpen and easy to carry, not to mention a fraction of the price. RAT's are great knives its just that they are built for abuse and to me seem a little overkill for what you want. If it was for you I would one hundred percent say RAT.

only problem I see with moras is a "fairly nice sheath"
they're functional, and have reasonable retention- but its nothing like the sheath on a rat3.
then again, a mora +custom sheath just might be cheaper than a rat3.
i've been thouroughly impressed with a few of the mora models that i own.
ragweedforge mentions which have larger handles than the others.
of the 3 i own (911, 510, 860 clipper), my favorite sheath is on the 911 though it also has the largest handle.
maybe a 840 clipper for her? I've been impressed with the carbon steel more than the stainless, but their stainless is good too, and better for my intended purpouses on the clipper.

My wife is a little anti-knives due to the time I spend on the forum or reading about knives etc !!!
However out of all my fixed blades the only one she has said she likes and called " cute " is my TOPS Wolfpup, it doesn't fit your criteria but might be worth a look anyway !!!

Nothing wrong with this Mora Sheath !!!:D

haha, Oh well, two votes for a Woodsman, its a nice knife. But yeah, the 102BR would be great. My 192BR is loverly:D

My wife has a Kershaw military which she seems to like, although she's not really into knives either. But because I am, she also has a Gerber Guardian;)
Benchmade has a few nice, understated knives like the Activator +, but they cost a bit more. Kershaw is the best bang for the buck in my view. Easy maintenance and easy to sharpen. Integral forged.

What does your wife plan to do with it? I only ask, as my wife has a couple of favorites that she has used on a couple of different backpacking trips and the majority of her chores were food prep and typical cord cutting and trimming roasting sticks.

Her favorites are the Mora 2000 (M2K), Spyderco's Moran (skinner version) and she does like the RAT-3, but I did have to do a lot of reprofiling to make it a better slicer for her.

My wife is a llittle Benchmade biased. So she has a Griptillian 551 and a fixed Griptillian. And.....an auto HK.....:D she really likes.

A number of Bark Rivers are light weight (but not in quality or power)

Classic Lite Hunter is superb

Could try Highland or Colonial Patch Knife as well.

My wife carries a Fallkniven S1. Not very heavy, but big enough to batton easily if you need to. Otherwise, Bark River is a great suggestion for a smaller, lighter knife.

I bought my wife this... CRKT Neck Peck - 5.5" O.A. with a 2.25" blade.
She loves it.... I'm jealous and may buy one for myself.

At one time Mora had some knives with pink handles !! Can't remember if the sheath was pink...I have a CS mini pendleton hunter that I don't need .PM if interested.

I had a Frost Mora Clipper once, but the wife liked how it felt in her hand and how sharp it was and she confiscated it. She doesn't carry it on a belt, but uses is for kitchen duty and it's her favorite over all the knives I've bought for her, including some pretty nice German blades.

A good kydex sheath will keep it tight to your wifes body.
