Then, this old guy comes in at 7.1 oz.

Plumber, Thanks . So, that weight comes from somewhere and rests on the 2 dot models . I like the ebony on your bottom knife (2 dot) . Lambert, your fortunate to have the model you posted in the photo ( 4 small pins) ! Very nice ! Thanks . DM

Yeah, well.......I just grab all the Three-Dotters I can find because they are just as good and there are far fewer of them around.

:D

Well, that's certainly interesting! Thanks. (I have one that's a clone of your middle 110, purchased IIRC after saving hard back in 1972.)

I just weighed these three 110's on my digital scale and I was surprised at what I found. The top one weighs 6.92 oz., center one 7.38 and the bottom 2 dot weighs in at 7.68.

There's a noticable difference in the feel of the top two, but not so much between the bottom two.

Do you think the weight differences could be due to the varying wood density?

That crossed my mind, too. Even ebony can vary a lot, and a really dense bit of ebony could probably account for that much or more, if the other piece was on the light side...

If we find the weigh difference consistent then I'd say not wood density as that would'nt occur everytime . I think its in the bolsters, thickness and/or length .
The rear blosters on my 2 dot is 3/32's longer than my 1990- 110 and the front difference is 1/32 . This could be enough to cause the greater weight . You guys measure that area and see what you come up with . DM

Jack, Thanks for the photos . Razor, "the brass stays polished longer" . I agree with your statements . They're also harder to polish on the first try . Newell, I posted the weight difference in another thread with my two dot 'before and after ' photos (.442lb for 91 and .477lb for 2 dot) . My 2 dot measures 20/32" at each end . Whereas, my 91, 110 is 2/32 more narrow . The same holds true at mid-handle width (2/32 difference) . Plumber, I really like the ebony on your bottom two . Your lucky to have those . ITE, a striking 'Highway Patrol' model 2 dot . Aurum did some nice work on those . APF, Me thinks so too . ;) DM
Do you by any chance know if the 2dot square back no nail nick are less common than the nail nick versions? I don't see many of them in any platform i have one I'm curious about. Thanks for any help
