What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Finally got a hold of one of these! Super nice f&f! Ka-bar-low

I have several TC Barlows, including the 2017 Forum knife (thanks for doing that, Charlie!). I much prefer the shiny bolster on regular TC Barlows, an attribute that makes those knives so special to me. So, I polished the satin bolster on the Forum knife and it looks great.

Bear & Son stag Barlow. A fairly recent acquisition. Bear has a reputation for uneven quality control. This one is a good one. I'm quite impressed, especially considering the price. Both blades are tight with no wobble whatsoever. Just the tiniest gap between the liner and spring on one side. Really only noticeable if its held up to the light. Both blades are decently well centered. The shield is a little crooked
This is solid, well made, inexpensive, Barlow in the best traditional sense.

Its an eighth of an inch longer than a Case and a tiny bit thicker. Despite the small difference, it feels bigger in hand. The blades have more of an angle when open than on the Case.

Blade grind is a little uneven. Didn't worry about it - gave it a couple of quick passes on a ceramic and then a little stropping and its plenty sharp.
