What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I had this one on me yesterday. It’s my only Barlow . I just did a search and realized the last time I posted it over here was 2022. So I’ll throw it in just because I think Case makes a decent Barlow.IMG_1639.jpegIMG_1637.jpeg

It always amazes me how bone can look so different depending on the lighting.

Thanks Charlie, those two are 😎👍
Thanks, Steve!!
I just got back from my P.O.Box with this one; another of those Cooper, Barlows; this one another NYK, but with Ebony handles!!Cooper NYK ebony 1.jpgCooper NYK ebony 2.jpg
Not as sophisticated as GEC, but nonetheless attractive for a number of reasons!!! Well finished, with great, firm snap, and sporting integral bolsters, I like the old-style Matteawan markings!! The ebony has a very rough sawcut, enhancing the utilitarian flavor of this Barlow, and contrasting nicely with the stamped, mark-side only bolster!! I love this knife!!!
(The other knife I picked up today is a stunner - check out the HJ thread!!!)

Thanks, Steve!!
