What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

That bolster length you are referring to Paul is what makes a Barlow a Barlow.

So that's what a Barlow is! ;) :P

My point was that were it a traditional jack thread, it would not be out of place in having a bolster a half inch shorter. Please note my previous post - I'm in agreement.

Hows about an end cap?

I'm sure at least a few people weren't keen on "modernizing" the traditional barlow pattern, even back in 1941!

My first Barlow came in the other day, I have a Walnut two blade on the way now as well. Quick dirty pic to show I'm officially part of the club:D My copy of Tom Sawyer is up at the farm so I had to go with a book called The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain, has an A to Z of the best quotes and things written or said by Mark Twain.

Better pics when the other arrives!

Very cool stuff philll. :) The Clip blade and end cap resemble this years BF forum knife (with a shorter bolster).

So many beautiful knives and beautiful photos!!! Doesn't hurt that these TC stamped bolsters are probably the best looking thing to happen to production slipjoints in just about ever. Such a classy design that has been wonderfully executed. So glad to have a couple of these in the stable.
