What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Beautiful picture of a great knife, Sturzi!

This is probably one of the rarest Cripple Creeks that I own. Three blade Barlow.

Whoa. Clearly three springs, too.

How wide is it? Do you happen to have a picture of it from the top or bottom with the blades closed?

I'll try to get better pics tomorrow of all of my CC Barlows and a more detailed pic of this one. It turned dark real fast tonight while I was getting ready.

Thanks much! I look forward to your images.

And yes, this time of year, dark happens fast.

And some more pictures of the new one.
I went for a walk this morning and here it's just before sunrise.

And now the sun's definitely been up for quite a while, so it may be time to go to bed :D

Cargill had interesting interpretations of the Barlow, Bobby. Thanks for showing us!

Nice to see others are up early and appreciating knives, Sturzi!!

I'm up at 4:55 today - ()

I love my TC Barlows. I picked up an Ebony single blade, copperhead single blade, and an Antique yellow two blade. I gave the Ebony single blade to my father for Christmas and he couldn't have been happier with it! He loves ebony wood covers on knives, and he said it reminded him of his barlow when he was a boy scout back in the 1950's.

I kept the other two, and I was having a hard time breaking the ice with either of them. I finally started carrying and using the two bladed antique yellow, and now I couldn't be any happier with my choice! I love the small spear point blade, and everything else about this knife seems perfect! It is has been my edc for the past week, and my #72 mini lockback has been missing a lot of pocket time because of it. The copperhead single blade is still staying pristine in it's tube, but I doubt that will last too long. I just wish I had gotten another ebony, or better yet, a two bladed ebony!

Thanks again charlie! These barlows are definitely my current favorites.

I love mine too...wish I would have bought more of the little buggers.

Welllll, it's kind of the other way around... It's not early, but very, very late :p :D
But the appreciating knives part is true :)

Ok, let's try these for now.

Thanks for the additional pictures.

Three blades and three springs.

Whoa, now there's a handful.

The others are interesting to me; I've not seen barlow handles with any sort of "sway" to them before.

Gosh, that's beautiful.

-- Very nice visual comparison, sitflyer. I love both the ebony that was used on the new TCs, and the saturated color in the Bower's bone.

Each of the knives seems to be in good company. :)

I don´t have too much Barlows - they are not very common here in Germany. But I got this nice Böker Tree Brand Barlow as a gift from Duncan, sent by Wayne (Peruna1998). I really like it. It has a nice pocketable size. Cute piece :)

It´s a good tradiitonal Barlow, imo...

On the other hand errr - shoulder - Remarks like this stimulate my evil show-off gene. My Chain of Fools for your perusal. The metal one is an Imperial, and I'm looking for a chain for the bottom one. I finally found the single blade (top) on ebay just last week!

Awww... I didnt see this initally...I am envious as heck right now!!!!

Does someone have a picture of the GEC Amber single blade Barlow they can post?

Thanks

Dave
