What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thank you Harry, was very excited to get the Case Tested, been looking a long time.

Augie, gorgeous Case Tested Barlow:thumbup: Nice find! That Appaloosa in your photo where it is opened (blade deployed) leaning against the log is beautiful. If the whole knife was handle it would be hard to find on that log :D

Here is a Boker Barlow Tree brand I found recently in jigged stag bone. Impressed with the build quality of this one. Lloyd

Here's a Ryouchijtx-inspired shot:

It's some kind of worn-out old switch box for a section of railroad that we have in Atlanta called the Beltline. I was looking for a piece of railroad that I didn't find, but I was glad to find this.

:thumbup::thumbup: :)
O.K. today we are closer!

The first finished Sheepfoot!

Haha I'm flattered. Very cinematic and a great shot~

For when new edition of TC Barlow? :D
All the Furness Barlows I have are constructed with integral bolsters, Jack.
For those who don't know the term, the bolsters were forged as one piece with the liners.
The Continental has separate bolsters. The quality is consistent with Furness, however, being somewhat crudely assembled and finished.
Like a lot of contract knives - the investigation continues!!

:D:D:D

Tim, Beautiful photograph with outstanding resolution! Those are a couple of the most gorgeous TCs made IMO. Nice patina especially on the clip. Thanks, Lloyd

A new arrival. A genuine sheepsfoot soup TC. I've had a red soup clip before but the smooth bone coupled with the ridge of the marrow is an fantastic contrast of texture and feel for the barlow covers.

Bolster stamps are a bit crude. I wonder if they were added by an owner? What do y'all think?

I did not notice until I read your note that the bolster marking is fairly crude . Any tool maker would have been appalled at making a die that crude . That old Barlow certainly looks like it has seen more than one rodeo.

They are special aren't they. Your photo skills are way better than mine. I find it one of the more comfortable TCs in hand. Certainly a different feel.
