What makes a Sebenza such a great knife?

I finally got to handle one recently-
They are really nice. REALLY nice. And from all accounts, they cut like a mother. But..I don't buy metal-handled knives. If I had the Extra cash laying around, I'd probably buy one anyway, but I think that in the end it's personal preference, with what you buy and what you keep.--Joe

It is extremely (understatement) well made.

Other than that, it is just a knife.

It does not have some of the "pizzazz" of some other production knives.

It is extremely (understatement) well made.

It is extremely (understatement) well made.

:D :D :D

Moderators, will someone please put up a sticky that says:

"Newbies, before you start a Sebenza thread, DO A SEARCH".

Sheesh ...

Nathan,

I DID do a search, and I wasn't satisfied with the answers I got!!!!

So I decided to start a new thread and see if any Sebenza owners would explain to me why this knife is worth the money.

By the way I made sure it was clear in the title of my thread what it was about so,,,,,, What's your problem? All you had to do was skip it and read the threads you were interested in. Not a difficult concept is it!

P.S. Sheesh!;)

Tony.

Kinda hard to believe. There have been many, many threads on this subject. This is one of those cases in which everything useful that can be said HAS been said.

I think it's appropriate that people here learn to intelligently use forum features, which obviously includes the search funtion.

Bear in mind, too, that bandwidth is a problem for all internet forums. Adding redundant threads is not going to help.

Tony - Please don't take all of this the wrong way. I'm sure that a patient search will turn up all the information you need. If you still have any questions about the Sebenza, feel free to shoot me an email. I have to warn you, though, that I'm a confirmed Sebenza-holic!
;)

Tony, I think the sebie is a great knife and I wouldnt hesistate to own one. I personally would get the one with snakewood inlays and a large because of my hand size, and really whats $400.00 or $500.00 dollars today some people spend that much in a bar in one night I would sooner have an investment in a quality piece then pee it down a drain.

I like CRK because they make a great product and they are the only ones besides Benchmade that makes a left handed knife. The Buck TNT seems to have quality control issues and they of couse won't make make one left handed, they have a hard time doing a right hand model and Tom isn't taking orders anymore. Tom also thinks that the Sebenza is a great product. Benchmade doesn't really count beacause the knives that I am refering to are the axis lock knives that are ambidextrous. As far as being over priced, that's a relative issue. Chris and company are hard pressed to keep up with the demand so apparently the market thinks that they are underpriced. And you all know that markets don't lie. :) ;) :p

Most of the best things you find in life are the simplest, Such is the case with the Sebbie, It's very simply designed yet it works perfect, the materials are top notch, Somthing that works perfect yet is simple as possible in it's design has less chance of failure IMO The Sebbie seems to have that down pat.

As for doing searches and so forth, do them, if you want to ask a question do it, if people don't like it they don't have to read it. If you don't want to see or imput into another Sebbie thread then don't click the link it's that easy.

I love the Sebbie. As everyone has said, it's a superbly built folder in a nice, simple package. No corners are cut, they make everything out of the best materials and with the highest degree of fit and finish that is possible. No other knife that I can think of has such a devout following of owners and the respect of so many other makers. The Sebenza has earned that for good reason.

Some people just get it, others need to actually handle one before they understand, and a few for some reason just never understand.

As for using the search function. Yeah, basically all this info is available with a search for "sebenza". I don't mind though. Yeah we see these threads all the time, but if we got rid of every thread that delt with something that had been talked about before this place would be pretty dead. Besides, things change. Even if the Sebenza hasn't changed I'm sure there are new owners out there who may have some insight to share that wern't around or didn't have the knife during previous threads on the topic. If your asking about the physical specs of a knife, then yeah, search first. But if your asking for oppinions from people, then those may change over time and I think it's legitimate to post a new thread about it. If you don't want to talk about the topic at hand, don't click on the thread!!!

Let´s see here, today we have the following new posts on this forum.

Another Edgepro Apex thread.
Another 806D2, Military, or Buck Strider? thread
Another Grohmann Knives thread
Another Spine Whack thread
Another BM 710 information thread
Another EDC-Help Me Choose thread
Another Tom Brown Tracker thread

In the past year and a half that I have been here, I seen all of these subjects discussed at lenght before. Now I see folks deriding the thread starter for not using the search option. Using that critia, there would be damn few new threads for us to read.

IMHO, if you don´t want to read another sebbie thread, don´t open it.

The Sebbie is a great little knife, great grind, its confortable for me to use all day if need be, s30v steel takes and keeps a sharp edge, CRK service:D

I somehow have three. I never could open them with the device provided. They open fine with inertia.
I do like the fact that a wrench was provided with one.
BM, MT and others think us too stupid to dissassasemble a simple knife when most of us have detail stripped firearms, which are much more complex.
They are still in the boxs. I do not use thewm much, but I bought them a lot cheaper than currant rate.
So many knives and so few pockets.
