You know.... Charlie might be a lot of things, but RUDE is not one of them. If he disagrees with you, that's not being rude. If being disagreed with hurts your feelings, perhaps you are not ready for open discussions.
Aside from that, he was probably working with, and collecting knives before you were born. You should learn to disagree respectfully. And, just perhaps, you should try to learn from other folks' experience and knowledge.
I don't share PM's in an open forum or you could see for yourself. And I doubt the guy was collecting knives before 1952.

I was speaking from my own experiences.... I have never seen rudeness from him... that's why I suggested you might be a little over-sensitive. I reserve the right to be wrong, however.
And I agree with knarfeng knarfeng that we should keep it civil... lively is ok, disagreeing is ok... rudeness is generally frowned upon..
I had an issue with a long time member when I first started posting, because I didn't know the difference between lambsfoot, sheepfoot, and ramsfoot. I received what I thought was a rather curt answer as well. Looking back, it wasn't intended to be that way, but I TOOK it that way... and I was wrong. Perhaps you are, as well.

Always a good idea to know who is knowledgeable and who is not when asking questions. It can take a while to understand the dynamics of an online community. However, please do not discuss other posters in discussion threads. Just address the question, please.

I think the question has now been fully and completely answered.
