What MANLY thing did your (traditional) knife do today?

I knew if there was a razor blade inside, I would need to carry my samurai sword around for protection from ninjas, but alas no razor blades. :grumpy:

I guess I'll have to keep looking for a reason.

My Case Trapper CV had today cut some apples, opening a Post-sent-box and cutting some cheese for diner.

Kind regards...

Well still no ninja fighting, but my CV trapper did come in handy today.
We bought a new barn for are potbelly pigs today, man o'man the splinters were crazy. One of the pigs is have a hard time moving around so I had make a hammock to put her in to move, not an easy chores, but The Yellar helped big time.
Also did some whittling to pass the time, I love CV.

I wish this would have come back up a week ago today, then I could have said I used my Case 5347 stag Stockman to slice off some venison sausage for breakfast. Instead I have to say I used my Case chestnut bone Canoe to open an envelope from mom:D.

I used my small Texas Jack to cut up about 2 feet of the best sweet sausage in the world.

You guys are cutting up a lot of sausage, were does it all come from?

More pig chores, so the trapper was a big help, also split a manly candy bar in half.

Used the pen blade on my swayback jack to cut a loose string on the cuff of my sweater.

Used the clip blade on my 8OT Old Timer to cut away the foil seal on a jar of (Costco) Animal Crackers, for my mother. She's 77 years young, with some rather arthritic hands. The seal is supposed to just peel off, but never does so, successfully. Always leaves that annoying layer of paper stuck on top. That seal didn't stand a chance, against my freshly-stropped blade.

I think, a loving son doing such a thing for his mother, should always be considered very manly (even if it was just a jar of animal crackers).

I've had a terrible sinus headache today and instead of wrestling with the Advil Cold and Sinus packaging, I used the main blade of the mini copperhead to surgically relieve the gelcaps from the obnoxious packaging they come in. - Ed

Cut Baling twine off of three bales of hay, opened a Burlap bag of Alpaca Chow with my Case Moose in G10.

Its kind sad realy, I have just ventured out of my sick bed this weekend, sweated like Ive been in a sweat box - whew! so Im dressed in my slippers, and bathrobe :o...let the dog out...see a vine choking my rubber tree..so in my bathrobe pocket just happened to be my Queen Stockman( true), I spent my time this weekend oiling, and checking my knives-sharpened a couple, and decided to bring a few more out of the safe queen mode to the edc rotation ( as I have given two away recently)...Queens first day out for a while...first of many I hope :D
This is her here, the right hand knife....

Broke down some carboard boxes after a shopping trip to Sam's club.

Cut off some canvas 1/2 inch webbing while making a new leash for Pearl the Wonder Corgi.

Opened a UPS box with my latest monthly shipment of pipe tobacco in it, then broke down box.

Whittled some kabob sticks after firing up the Weber for the first time this year. One cube of beef, one piece of bell pepper, one piece of vidallia sweet onion, then repeat till skewer is full and toss on grill.

Carl.

On Friday my Case CV Large Stockman had to break down the boxes that came from the 10 or so two-stroke units that I serviced-ranging from Chainsaws and Trimmers, to those saws that road construction crews use to cut up the concrete (with the diamond blades).

The cardboard recycling bin was almost full, so I had to break down the boxes, then I had to cut a lot of them up into smaller squares/pieces to fit all of the cardboard into the bin.

I have to say that the CV steel held up really well and barely dulled on me. Every once in a while I would strop the blade on a piece of cardboard, then cut into the cardboard slightly about four times in attempt to remove any burr.

Today I used my Buck 301 Stockman to open a box that contained another Case Large Amber Bone CV Stockman that my co-worker wanted me to order for him because he liked mine sooo much.

Looks like I'm spreading the disease.
