M Murphy Slaw , I believe the issue has to due with the part content. A product has to have a certain percentage of its content manufactured in the U.S. to qualify to have it stamped U.S.A. Leatherman was sued by the state of California sometime in the 1990s. As a result, tools from that period had U.S.A. removed since they did not have enough part content to qualify. I am no expert on this topic, I am just sharing what little bit I know.

Here is a pic, since this is a picture thread.

Yeah I found that info too.

I have a couple Waves, an original in my Lexus Land Cruiser and a Wave+ at home in the kitchen junk drawer. I've never had much need for either but like to have one in the rig even though I have a Lexus tool kit in the vehicle as well as small Knipex pliers and some assorted SAKs stowed about (including a Champ in the glovebox). At home, I never use the Wave+ as I have a full compliment of tools in the basement storage room. More in the garage. Still, I like having a multi-tool because I like the idea behind them even if rarely used.

I have plenty of multitools tucked away in drawers and toolboxes, but, when I need a tool, I virtually always have an MT on my belt or clipped to my pocket or both! The best MT is the one you have within reach when you need it. Carry on! T-A

I'm sure if I carried one on a clip or my belt as an EDC it would get used a bit. But honestly, I really have very little need of them. I just like the gadgetry so have a couple for grins and giggles. I do remember some years back, I had an electrical issue I couldn't solve at my place and had a guy come out. He solved our problem using his belt carried MT and the flashlight on his phone (I still had a flip phone in those days and didn't know about smart phones). Thought that was pretty damn cool.

I truly have little use for my Leatherman Wave+ but love it nonetheless for the gadgetry of it all. I finally used it today (the pliers) to reinstall a magazine release spring in my Ruger LCP max when reversing the mag release button from right hand use to left hand use and the spring dropped out. So yay.

Man, that's crazy. I use this old SOG many times a day for many, many years, and yesterday I was making some Christmas presents. Small sheath for my brother's Puma, and some Misc key hangers for nieces and nephews. Yea, I can't sew for crap, gonna stick to the Chicago screws and some copper rivets I found
