What multitool do you guys like best for a sheath pouch as part of a survival kit ?

My all-time favorite multitool is the Victorinox SwissTool X. Why? Because every single tool is accessible without opening the pliers. Beat that, leatherman. And of course it is made and assembled in Switzerland :D Also the clean lines and flawless fit and finish of Vic multitools are great.

And yes, I know, there are Leatherman models out there that have some tools accessible from the "outside", they're just outside my price range or illegal to carry here.

My favorite is the swisschamp. Pliers arent as robust as typical multitools but it has alot more tools on it. Plus its just cool as hell, anyone that grew up watching mcgyver would drool at the sight of it. :p

Leatherman Kick is the one for me. I drifted away from the super tool boxes and went back to a simpler set-up, with no regrets.

If I had to choose between the midsize(charge tti*) and the full size(supertool 300*), I'de choose the large. The charge is better for pocket carry, lighter and no slouch in the multitool dept., but the 300 is, well, larger. And lets face it, if weight were a concern, you probably wouldn't be carrying a Becker. :D To tell the truth, my supertool 300 has a permanent place in the top of my Jumbo Versipack, so it doesn't make it into any of my Becker pouches.

There is, however, a vic mechanic in the pouch on my BK2 that accompanied us to the picnic tonight. As luck would have it, it's the only vic I own without a corkscrew. Good thing someone nearby had one. :grumpy:.

* The only two multitools I own, with the exception of a number of SAK's.

I have a pair of Vic picnickers, clipped to our Maxpedition fatboy packs along with a firesteel and striker and emergency whistle.
The metal paneled Vic farmer is calling me though., and I want a multi tool to sheath pouch, I have been thinking about the skeletool, but wanted input from people who get out in the woods more than me and my fam.

leatherman juice I'd say has been my favorite hands down... really has everything I need and is super light, don't even know its there half the time until I need it..

its not part of a survival kit, or does it ride in some monstrous sheath its just with me all the time.. and has become a close friend, don't know what I'd do without her, she see's more play time then anything else I own.... period, multitools are within themselves survival tools..

and you don't have to flip the pliers completely open to access the tools, just open it up half way from either side to get what you want..

I use a Gerber 400 "Compact Sport", and I'm currently trying to work it onto my BK2. I like it because it is light and useful, with enough tools that I need, and almost none that I don't. I've had it for almost 12 years now, and its gotten me out of all sorts of jams.

What, no photos?

I carry this Gerber Crux in my medium bag. I got it at Target on clearance for $12:

All in all, not bad for $22.

for the money, a handful of genuine mini vise-grip pliers. the number one thing i need on a multitool thing is the pliers, followed by the scissors.

locking pliers? da bomb.

Victorinox Swisstool Spirit

Slightly curved handles make using the pliers more comfortable.

The tools are accessible from the outside.

I would'nt like the odd shaped serrated blade if this was the only knife I carried. But since I carry one or two plain edge blades, I kinda like having the serrated blade in my bag.

For EDC, I carry this little guy in my pocket.

It rides in flash drive pouch with a Victorinox Solo.

DAMNIT. I thought I was done buying stuff, but this thread has reminded me that I am not done buying stuff. DAMNIT.

The Leathermans Wave and Victorinox one-hand trailmaster combo work's great form me! I carry them on my belt or in a backpack. Next to a BK7 and Mora it gives me plenty of options for make-shift jobs found outdoors of in a survival situation.

I really like the Charge TTi, high quality, durable, amazing tool selection, a bit large and not as nicely funicular as the Swiss Tool Spirit X, but durable than the Swiss Tool and a better tool Selection, but for a Woods survival kit, a Leatherman Juice, PS4, a medium sized SaK paired with a stout fixed blade to preserve weight would be my choice, to leave in the car bag the TTi is my pick.

I never leave the house without my maxped. Inside the pocket is a Leatherman Wave, A SAK pioneer and a paramilitary II on the strap.

I keep a SwissTool on my Fieldmaster sheath. I like that everything is accessible from the outside, but I prefer the one-handed blade accessibility of my Leatherman Wave, so that rides in my pocket on an attached pocket-clip. Little heavy for EDC so I only carry it when I think I might need more than just a single blade. The swisstool is also quite a bit heavier, but the pliers, saw, and razor-sharp blade compliment the BK7 well, and I actually prefer the extra weight on the sheath to keep it from flopping around when the knife is out.
