What multitool do you guys like best for a sheath pouch as part of a survival kit ?

I just use the leatherman Fuse and Micra.

There both packed in my Maxpedition Fatboy also...

Nice looking set up Flexxx. What is the name of the pouch on the right? Looks like a cell phone holder. Nice!!!

1 Victorinox Spirit X
2 Leatherman Charge
3 Victorinox Huntsman Plus

Been known to have all three on me :D:D

For lightness though, and for a survival tin, I'd go for a Sideclip (if that is gettable anymore) or a Juice

Is the charge tti worth the extra cash?
I have a wave now so is an upgrade worth the spending another benjamin?

I have the original LM Wave I EDC Daily.....I also have a Swiss Tool in my BOB & Victorinox Spirit in my Tackle box all about the same to me ,both have there quirks and both are great quality (LM & Victorinox)

I have a Wave in my bag - but honestly, I never use it. I certainly do not carry it on my person or when hiking. It is big and heavy and most of the tools are a compromise. I really really wanted this specific multi and did a ton of research. Now that I have it, it's just taking up space.

finally got around to posting it. Can opener is my most used tool, next is serrated knife. I use about everything on this tool. Admittedly not every day or every time I'm out but frequently enough I like having it around. My pack has enough space for what I need and I don't carry much in the name of "survival use only" so it's handy for me to have around. To each their own.

Leatherman Charge Ti. Used to be a Leatherman Wave, but the wife sort of confiscated that one, and bought me the other one for Christmas.

My all-time favorite multitool is the Victorinox SwissTool X. Why? Because every single tool is accessible without opening the pliers. Beat that, leatherman. And of course it is made and assembled in Switzerland :D Also the clean lines and flawless fit and finish of Vic multitools are great.

And yes, I know, there are Leatherman models out there that have some tools accessible from the "outside", they're just outside my price range or illegal to carry here.

I have had multi-tools from Leatherman, SOG, Gerber, and Victorinox. After using the Victorinox SwissTool all the others just feel cheap. The fit and finish is flawless, and all the tools lock up with no movement at all. I can't say the same for those other tools. Second place goes to SOG for their one-handed opening and power assist pliers. When I moved to Costa Rica I took the Vic and left the others behind.

I don't carry a multi-tool in my sheath pouch because I cut my pouch off, but I do carry several different tools. EDC is my Leatherman Surge, in my BOB I carry a Leatherman Wave and my Supertool 200 is on my bike for the riding season. When the snow starts falling I'll move the 200 from the Harley to my Jeep. I don't have any reason for the Leatherman loyalty other than their selection of tools and excellent customer service. I went through 3 or 4 Tethers in the Marines. Good tools, all of them and I really like the one handed opening, but they apparently just couldn't handle playing rough.

I would say it depends on how often you use the knife blade. The TTi has an S30V knife blade, which is the only reason I'd spend the extra money, but which I doubt I ever will because I don't use the knife blade on my Wave or Juice (S2 and Xe6) hardly at all. I always have a "real" knife on me, and most of the time it is an S30V blade (Bradley Alias I), but even when it ain't that one, it's still better steel than the 420HC of the Wave or all of the Juices.

If weight is the major consideration, the TTi does provide a little advantage, as it has 19 tools and 8 bits coming in at 8.2 oz., while the Wave comes in at 8.5 oz. with 17 tools and only 2 bits.

The Charge AL is likewise 17 tools, but with 8 bits, at 8.3 oz., and the ALX is 18 tools/9 bits at 8.3 oz. also, but on both the AL and ALX, the main knife blade is 154CM steel, a great, durable steel for knives, and the extra 1/10th of an ounce hardly seems to justify an extra $100 bucks even considering the higher-end steel on the TTi.

In short, no, it ain't anywhere near worth the extra benjamin, although to be fair, there are several places to find the TTi that the price is nowhere near as much as $100 bucks more than a Wave. Still ain't worth it to me though.

I have a Leatherman Blast simply for its tool selection. I wear glasses and wanted the tiny screw driver, pliers, folding saw, can opener etc. I say figure out your possible needs\uses and get the model that will fill those needs. The small blade meant nothing to me because I would always have something a bit more robust. On the other hand, if this was all I had, it would perform well in many more scenarios than a knife alone. Great tools.
