What multitool or SAK did you buy today

Someone who may or may not live in or near my house who may or may not look a like photos of me may or may not have noticed a new/old stock Victorinox Forester on the big auction site at a reasonable price and may or may not have acquired one.

Allegedly.

Maybe there will be a photo of it, or maybe not, if it does or doesn’t show up?

Traded a BTI Old Timer 25OT 4 blade Scout/Camp knife, and a Buck amber jigged bone 371 stockman for this Leatherman Charge+ TTI.
I offered to give him a third or even fourth knife, but he declined. "These are fine."

Apparently I have two S30V blades now. (th'tuther is in a Buck 110.)
Found the lanyard ring when I shook the case and upended it. 😷👍

I think I have all the joint/pivots oiled.

Just did a little more trading.
SAK "Signature" and an 1988 to 2004 Imperial Ireland Barlow for a Mini Champ.
Question: Is the open blade an "Orange Peeler" or to open a 😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😡 clam/hang package?

Böker Magnum scout/camp knife and a c1927 Schrade Walden 2251Chain (missing shackle and chain long before I got it) for a Evolution Grip 14.
The Mini Champ is on my keyring, the Evolution Grip 14 has gone into my pocket. (sans a lanyard which is attached to the Leatherman Charge+ TTI I traded for yesterday.

I'm calling this Leatherman Wingman my karma tool. After selling many things due to family bills I was rooting around in a box of kitchen junk at a Goodwill store when I saw what I knew to be a "find." It cost less than $1.00!! It was pretty gunked up with who knows what. The knife blade and the scissors were very hard to open, but after sitting in WD-40 and 3 in 1 oil it works at about 90% efficiency. You can still see the effects of whatever was on it but I'm sure a little more elbow grease will help.IMG_9440.JPG

Great score mate👍

SAKWiki says:
"The Cut & Picker Blade with Scraper is only found on a few 58mm size knives. According to information from the factory its sole purpose is to cut the plastic tie used to seal a pill bottle cap, and then to pick the cotton filler out of the bottle. This tool is sometimes referred to as orange peeler, and it happens to work quite well at that task, but there is another official Orange Peeler blade available on 74mm knives."

Not sure how I missed this thread. Gotta Farmer in my pocket as I type this.

I have a question for you SAK experts and it concerns how some models have crinked main blades, and some do not.

While I love the Farmer, I do not care for the slanted main blade.

What models do NOT have this feature?

If memory serves, the Recruit (don't know about the higher ranking Cadet, I've never had one) and the Huntsman (and likely the same except for the philips screwdriver on the back Fieldmaster) don't have a kinked main blade.
My Evo Grip 14's main blade doesn't appear to be kinked.
My guess is the two and three layer SAK are less likely to have a kinked blade.
Of course the higher layer count knives that don't have the main blade sharing a spring are also unlikely to have a kinked blade.

Have you inspected the Farmer X? The addition of the scissors may have eliminated the kink in the main blade, or maybe the Pioneer?

Thanks. I appreciate the info. Haven't checked out the X yet.

I have a Pioneer on the way, but I suspect that main is also crooked to accommodate the awl.

Could be. I don't notice it on the old 4 blade Scout/Camp/"Demo" knives I have. The main on my c.1947-1956 Imperial Engineers knife looks straight. It has a pen blade rather than the more common (and IMHO more useful) punch/awl.

I bought another Ambassador today, just to have a spare. The stock seems to finally be running out on them. It sure took a while, didn't it? I guess they really just weren't popular. Shame. The Ambassador ought to be insanely popular, given that it's essentially just a scaled up Classic. It pairs really well with other multitools too. The nail file can even serve as a small phillips screwdriver and a light duty awl.

Anyway, you can still find them easily enough, but most of the places that used to have them have gone out of stock, and finding a good price seems to be getting harder.

I was thinking of also getting an Executive, but I just don't like that model. It makes me frown.

I bought a Leatherman Rebar today. I have a Wave but I am done with the pliers pinching me. I carry a separate knife so I don't think I will miss the OHO all that much either. The Rebar seems pretty good noticably lighter then the Wave.
Huh, I thought the Rebar was considerably beefier than the Wave? Or at least made for bigger hands? Am I wrong?

Tested the ”orange peeler” today as package opener and it worked beautifully!
