What multitool or SAK did you buy today

So, it was my Dad's birthday recently, and So, I got him a new Leatherman Signal to take on his woodswalking adventures, and I happened to have a recent acquisition of my own, a vintage Leatherman Supertool, and so I took a quick shot. Observable evolution!!!

Man, having to post up again in this thread, because I gave into the positive reviews and reactions from folks both here and elsewhere on the Arc. The first run ARCs are straight-up gone, so figured I wouldn't miss that particular bus again. Snapped up one of the new coated blade (non-Obsidian) versions. A dialed in version of the Free with (to me) a better toolset? I'm in!

You'll have to give us a review after awhile 😀

I actually will! I have carried a Charge Ti in my daybag and have used it for years, whenever little tasks arose, but after having held and messed around with this ARC for a bit, it's already a superior tool thanks to the Free magnets system and how easy it is to get the pliers deployed and ready for use. I'll carry it and use it for a bit and report back!

Yep I like the magnetic system I have the P4 &T2.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts 👍

Nice find!
I thought the Wengers used a different style can opener, though. That one looks like the Victorinox version, and that would have been ten years before Victorinox acquired Wenger.

Wonder if they never changed the date on the card, and the knife was made later than the date on the card? I have another NOS Wenger SAK that I have owned for at least a decade - the can opener is the one associated with Wenger as opposed to that as pictured on the card. OH

I ordered myself a 91mm Victorinox Ranger.
I really wanted the Mountaineer ($57), but the Ranger was on sale for $1 more ($58), so I ordered one.
Not sure I'll need the extra stuff (file and chisel) but for a buck, why not?
It'll be my EDC with a little more versatility than my current EDCs (the Mini-Champ or SD Signature).

P.S. The "SD Signature" (with the bolt-action ink pen) is discontinued, so I looked around and bought all the "new old stock" I could find. Ended up with 9 of them. I'll used them for stocking stuffers at Xmas.

We stopped in a little Mennonite country store to buy a couple of bags of pecans. They were stocked with foods, crafts, gifts, etc. On one shelf they had a few "gas station" knives, but also had several Victorinox Classics, a few Spartains (I think that's the model), and a few of these Victorinox sheaths with spring clips. I have never seen these anywhere before, but they came in standard silver Victorinox boxes (as did the knives), price $12. I bought one to give it a try. The material is listed as leather and although the box says "Swiss Made," a label in the sheath says "China." It's a perfect fit for my 91 mm Tinker, and I think it would probably fit a three layer knife. I tried my Fieldmaster but the snap would not quite reach. Also works well with my Electrician. I'm wearing it right now with the Tinker.

Pretty nice with that belt clip. I didn’t realize these have a snap closure, which I strongly prefer over velcro.

The Ranger arrived at last! I'm not disappointed. I have other SAKs, but none with the saw, file, and scissors, so I figured I'd upgrade. A Spartan with scissors, saw, and file is... the RANGER! It arrived yesterday. I immediately put a PLUS scale on the Ranger (adding the pen and pin), then added a FireAnt and Tinder. NOW it was ready to be my EDC!

Back when I was working in a suit all day long in an office, the SD was the king.
When SD Signature came out, IT was the big winner. Can't count the number of times I used that little pen!
On weekends I'd wear jeans and the Mini Champ ruled (more functionality and it carried easily - and it had a pen).
But out here in the woods, I'm in work pants, painter pants, BDU pants, or wearing chainsaw chaps over my pants, so the Ranger ought to be an easy carry.
If it's annoying in the pocket, I'll use a belt sheath. No biggie.
I imagine most people's needs change over time, or are dictated by circumstances; fortunately, Victorinox has a SAK for everyone -- and for every application!

I'd attach a pic... if I could figure out how.

Cheers!

I'm still not sure that the Leatherman Bond isn't my most ideal tool out of leathermans current offerings, but I was browsing the knife display at my local hardware store today trying to spend a gift card and for some reason the leatherman Rebar they had caught my eye.
I had never seen one in person before , and just noticed how close in size it was to my Bond so I decided to try one.

It's a little bit thicker than the Bond, but otherwise the size of the Rebar is right about what I like.
Actually it compares well to the Fuse I carried for so long.

I remember now one of the reasons I hadn't tried a rebar before, aside from having the serrated blade that I don't need I don't really like the design of the current replaceable wire cutters compared to the fixed cutters.

Once I get the rebar broken in I'll give it an honest try at work.
It hasn't been needed, but I was used to the locks on my Fuse and did miss that when I retired it for the Bond.
I don't need and will probably never use the serrated blade, but I can't think of anything I'd want in it's place so having it won't bother me.
Honestly I'd rather just have a locking Bond, and that's only because the locking tools are a little easier to open and not because the locks were ever needed.

I took a risk today. I bought a gerber dime. I wanted to replace the most recent SAK classic that got lost a few weeks ago, but thought I’d try something with pliers.

I’m not usually a gerber fan but Leatherman doesn’t make the plier based keychain size tools anymore. Let’s see how long the gerber holds up.

Hickory n steel Hickory n steel For me a big advantage of the Rebar over the Bond is that the Rebar has a saw. It’s something I find myself using a lot.
I have yet to need the saw on my rebar, but there was one time at work a year or two ago that I wished I had one.

So far over these past 5 months I haven't really missed my Bond but haven't found the Rebar to be a gamechanger either, I'd probably have no problem going back to the Bond if I somehow lost my Rebar.
Both tools are an ideal size take about the same effort to open have the essential tools, so it's kind of a toss up for me at this point.
