I've always carried a knife and fire kit on my belt when in the woods. Refining gear is a constantly evolving endevour for me. Here is the latest set up. Remember these are not the only items I have on me... this is just what I sport on my belt.

How bout' you?

Rick

Ill get some picks up tomorow, but what ever fixed im taking and a psk, has a modified AMK SOl pack and a AMK bivy.

Mostly a Green River Butchers knife I modded in a mountain-man type sheath and a few things like matches or firesteel in a belt-pouch (nylon at the moment, going to make a leather one soon). If I'm camping and going for a walk to forage/look around I'll tuck a hatchet at the back. I find the old styles work as well as I need, look better and are cheaper. Sometimes the Butchers knife gets traded for a mora.

Where legal, an S&W Model 629 Trail Boss and a knife. The knives are a rotation because the ones left at home get sooooo jealous!:o

Like Rick, I usually carry a fixed blade knife and my fire kit on my belt when out in the woods.

Though I will add that my gear does not look as rustic as Ricks classy looking gear.

I carry my NWA Sierra scout and a Otter box 2000 with leather holder (KSF) full of my PSK stuff on my belt.
Great looking gear Rick !

Rick that is a greal looking kit:thumbup:.

Just in case you were only to be carrying that kit with you is water in your are real easy to get and purify ? I did not see even a plastic bag as a possible water container. Just wondering.

How long is the blade on your dewller knife?

When out in the woods I carry a couple of fixed piggy back style. I have a compass / stobe pouch that I carry on my belt that has some survival goodies also.

I take some type of fixed blade, and usually a multitool. The firekit and PSK ride in one of the pockets on my pants.

First off, great setup Rick

The only thing I actually carry on my belt is my knife, but when I am in the woods, I also usually carry a ribbit skin possibles bag. I'll look for a pic, but I garuntee It is not a cool as yours.

Ewww Rick - that stuff looks all old and stuff.

Would some G-11 kill you? ;)

I have, on my belt, while in the field - a FT Kephart and a Kephart Companion.

Usually, just my pants.

Oftentimes, a Spydie folder (currently a Yojimbo) and sometimes a M1911 in a IWB or OWB holster.

I normally do jungle expeditions. On my belt I carry ALL emergency equipment. In my backpack I carry my other equipment. On my belt is: One large (8 to 10in.) knife in a sheath which has a pouch with a firestarter, a compass and a knife sharpener; One large pouch with power bars, pollen (to eat), guarani seeds (pick me ups), a cellphone and a map of the area I'm in; another small pouch has a gps and spare batteries for the gps; a canteen with one quart of water (the canteen has a little pouch with water purifying tablets); and one last little pouch with a harmonica in it (fireside entertainment). I consider these to be my essentials. If it's cold I add an emergency silver blanket. I would say that the food is enough for one day (barely).

That is your woods carry?

Sorry, misread the posting, thought it was an EDC question.

I typically don't carry that much on my belt when backpacking or through-hiking the Pacific Northwest though. I prefer most items in pockets or in backpack/daypack.

When jungle trekking in SE Asia, I will carry a parang, but more often strapped to my pack.

I really don't like to have things hanging on my belt, I find it more flexible to not have things strapped to my body that I cannot shed.
