what other traditional kit do you EDC

I'm in awe of the collections of pocket knives some of you guys have on here and my couple of GEC's pale in comparison but I'm wondering does anyone carry other traditional items with their pocket knives?

Maybe not traditional, but to me it is...For the last 30 years I have a 2-3/4 inch Sail needle tucked in the leather of my wallet. That little sharp piece of steel has gotten me out of a few jams over the years...it has traveled internationally without a hitch, and has opened lots of tough packages etc where a knife is not allowed! And it has sewed things too;)
Can always find a bit of string...

When at work, in addition to a small slip joint, I usually carry a fountain pen, a small Miquelrius notebook, and a mechanical "flieger" style watch.

I wear bow ties a lot too. Not exactly kit per se, but definitely traditional.

Plus 1/4" and 5/16" hex chucks.
Chucks & vise grips come out of pocket when at home.

I often carry my grandfathers pen. It is a ballpoint an not super old but I like it quite a bit. I never really got to know my grandfather that well as he was quite a reserved man an I was quite young. A real pity, I'm sure he could have taught me lots.

I carry a Sears 4 way screwdriver, pen, handkerchief, toothpick(unused in plastic), and an "unbreakable" plastic comb. Nothing very traditional or special, it's just stuff I use. Seas 4way for the occasional screw, pen to write with, handkerchief when I sneeze, toothpick for after I eat, comb for my hair so I don't look disheveled.

A "medicine" pouch that my father, an upholsterer, made for me. My sister's rosary (she passed away from SIDS 20 years ago), and some mane hair from my fathers Apaloosa horse. I am not a religious guy, but it is a worry/prayer item to me, and very special. I have only forgotten it a few times going out the door, once thought I lost it, I was beside myself.

Such objects can themselves be the prayer, tangible yet pointing beyond themselves, holding our hearts. I'm so glad you didn't lose it.

On my person:
Money clip. Traditional. Engraved with "The Root of All Evil".
Bandana. Traditional.
Reading glasses. Traditional.
Pocket sized EDC knife. Traditional. Today it's my Ulster Camper.

Within reach anytime I'm not in the woods in a small PDA case:
PDA (now an iPod). Traditional? Necessary anyway...
Pen.
Opinel #10. Traditional and big.

In the room nearly anytime I'm not in the woods in a small sling pack:
First aid kit. Traditional for mountaineers anyway.
Small multitool. Not traditional but there you have it.
Small honing stick. Not traditional but again, there you have it.
Small key ring with the following items on it:
+ Mini LED light
+ Leatherman Micra scissors tool (better than a traditional Vic Classic, imo)
+ TV-B-Gone key fob. Traditional or not, words can't describe how wonderful it is to have a TV-B-Gone in your EDC kit.

Zippo and paisley bandana

Me too, and my kids tease me about the bandana. I carry a Fisher Space Pen too, but that's not very traditional, and my Swiss Tech pliers tool on my keychain. That little tool has saved me quite a few times (IT specialist).

IMCO's are great! I don't carry any of mine (they're LE pinup lighters in a display :D) but I do have a plain one on my desk. I like my peanut lighter too, a fill of lighter fluid lasts for months unlike a Zippo.

I'm not a smoker but have become increasingly attracted to Zippo lighters and their nostalgic appearence and have one in my EDC gear.

I never thought of myself as an old fogey, but I just might be. In addition to the slipjoint in my pocket I also carry a fountain pen and handkerchief. I wear a mechanical watch on my wrist and start off the day shaving with a straight razor. I even like to read actual books, which makes me a seeming anachronism when I look around and see everyone with an IPad or a Kindle.

I carry a couple of solid gold coins in my wallet, to remind me that money should have value.

I only shave with a brush & bowl no canned foam thank you.

One 'traditional' value I won't compromise on: when I drink tea, coffee or cocoa it MUST be in a proper china cup. If it's offered in cardboard, styrofoam, plastic etc 'on the go' it's not worth drinking.

I agree about the beverages, I'll only drink French pressed coffee, unless out for dinner and have no choice, it's part of the morning ritual, along with fresh squeezed orange juice I make everyday, can't drink store bought OJ.
