what other traditional kit do you EDC

Pencil. Usually a golf pencil or worn down short pencil about 3 inch long. I like a pencil because I learned form my dad that it has so many uses. It never runs dry, never leaks, what you've written won't run if it gets wet, can write on many surfaces, and can be scraped down for a dry graphite lube if needed. So light weight ands small it goes unnoticed.

Homemade pad to take notes on in my wallet. Fold up a piece of paper 3 or 4 times and put two staples in the top and trim with scissors to business card size and keep in wallet. This will give you a small pad with several pages. Use golf pencil to write notes.

Carl.

I always carry a 6B pencil stub, nice thick lead that won't break easy and leaves a dark line I can see without my glasses.

I use the reply envelopes from all the junk mail I get to write notes on. I carry a small diary too.

I also carry a small piece of chalk wrapped in masking tape to write on wood or walls if need be.

A piece of string (13') marked with a marker pen every inch for the first foot, then every foot after that, it's
also for tying stuff. I often carry the marker pen as well.

A peanut lighter, if I think I might need one, or a Zippo if I know I'll need one.

A magnifying glass on a cord around my neck as I hate carrying glasses.

One 'traditional' value I won't compromise on: when I drink tea, coffee or cocoa it MUST be in a proper china cup. If it's offered in cardboard, styrofoam, plastic etc 'on the go' it's not worth drinking.

My father is sort of the same way. Coffee must be drunk from a proper coffee cup, no cardboard cups thank you very much (haven't seen styrofoam in years). No paper plates, even at parties. Beer can be drunk directly from glass bottles, but a can of beer must be drunk from a glass. He drinks Coors Light and Keystone light, but I digress :D.

What are the knives? They look like GEC #73's, but I've never seen one (much less two) with a drop point.

Frosty

fairly simple just a gentle shave with a dremel

I plan to get a two blade and scagel hole them :D

As far as traditional stuff goes I carry a slipjoint, kerchief, mechanical wrist watch, and black leather wallet with a John Wayne, needle, a few safety pins. This excludes the ZT 0300 and cell phone.

Sometimes I have a zippo, but now I am definitely thinking about an IMCO.

Traditional items in my EDC are a money clip (gift from wife that cost her more than I have clipped in it 90% of the time), wallet and usually an automatic watch.

Non-traditional would be iPhone, multi-tool, knife (on non-office days), Burts Bees, and keyless entry fob for car.

I carry a red paisley bandanna (2 actually, spare in my bag) a p38, a Moleskine notebook, often a mechanical watch, often leather boots, and whenever I need a lighter (rare) I go for either matches in a Marbles case or a Zippo, be it my '37 replica or just the standard brushed chrome one. I'm another one of those guys that has to drink his coffee from a real mug, although I will expand my horizons to include an enamelware mug every once in a while.
Oh, and I just recently learned how to play a harmonica so I'm carrying one of those now too. At the moment I'm using the Hohner Bluesband in C, as it's the one I learned on.

In addition to my Case pocket knife, I ALWAYS have a Maratac AAA flashlight, amazing how much I use that flashlight---eyesight is truly diminishing. In my leather wallet is at least one bandage, couple of bobby pins and a couple of small safety pins as well as a large paper clip.

Always a bandana in my rear jean pocket. Cheaters (reading glasses) are always propped up on my bald head---again with the diminishing eyesight thing!

I back pocket carry under my bandana a SAK with scissors---amazing how often the scissors gets used as well.

On the wrist is a Timex with day/date with white face with black hands---there's that eyesight thing again!!! I have to have the flex band---cant stand anything tight or binding strap wise.

Great thread!!!

Paul

non-knife traditional edc items (work and play):

mechanical watch (Stowa flieger, no date / no logo)
leather wallet (Saddleback bi-fold);
fountain pen (Lamy 2000)
and film camera loaded with black and white (Leica M6 or M4, depending on light conditions as I keep 400 ISO in the M6 and 100 in the M4).
