What People Will Do For INFI

heck, kids do stupid things all the time. for that matter, adults do stupid things all the time.

i haven't seen anything to indicate he is irresponsible. he's just young. maybe a little immature, but not any more than any other teenager. in fact id say he is more mature than many teenagers i come in to contact with.

ive been buying/collecting knives since i was about 12. mostly cheap chinese crap when i was younger and knew no better, but they were still sharp enough to cut me, which they did with semi-regular frequency.

and i still cut myself on occasion.

until there is evidence he is torturing animals, chasing little kids, or anything else dangerous with his knives, i think an fbm is fine for him to have. so long as his parents are in agreement and supervise his use of it.

Fourteen years old and buying a knife that' 16 inches long. I must say that I respect the urge and of course understand the desire but I must agree with J85909266. That's a weird name so I'll call you J85 if that's OK. I agree with J85. If he must chase gigantic knives that cost as much as they do then let his parents worry about it. Let's not encourage him. If he is not able to figure out that he could get a job with parental permission and working papers then maybe he is not ready to handle the responsibility of possessing something as lethal as a BM. Besides if I remember correctly they cost a good deal more than $50. The kid'll do what he will but we don't need to be a party to his impulsivity.
To Blood Grooves. Good Luck kid. ANd watch out for yourself. Life is rough in the big city

...So here I am, perusing the Forums, when I come across a thread where folks are pointing to another thread, laughing and shaking their heads... I go to the thread mentioned... And here I am.

Blood_Grooves, I understand that you're young, and just goofing around for some cash, but there are many better ways to raise money for the knife of your choice. dialton covered a few good ideas. These knives are fun, but yet by no means 'toys' and do command respect by those who use them. They are lethal, harmful, and/or potentially devastating to anything struck by a person wielding one. Please remember this. When I read your post, a few thoughts jump to mind... One: wait til you try to crap out those diapers  ...LOL. Two: what kind of real friends will bet you, or take your bet to allow them to beat you as hard as possible? Things escalate, and soon who knows... Maybe for $50 they'll want to throw a knife at the apple on your head... Know what I mean? Please do not take this offensively, but think about it. Fun is fun, but responsibility is learned, not inherited. Also... Feeling responsible for every knife I've sold; if you came to me and asked me to sell you a knife, I would be concerned and hesitant to do so after reading a thread like this because I would feel awful if a knife I sold was used for something bad (even unintentionally), and I'd have to think about the odds of that when considering the sale.

Just some observations from someone older, who's been in his fair share of trouble in the past. I do applaud you in your interest of knives & especially Busse knives, but I suggest exercising some caution when it comes to certain decisions brought about by peer pressure. Cool?
:)

When I was 14 years old I was cutting lawns for the neighbors. It was not a lot of money, but when I was doing 5 lawns a week, it sure added up quickly.

There are a lot of better things you can do to earn money. Ask your older neighbors if they need someone to shovel their driveway/sidewalk, or cut their lawns. Get a paper route. Offer to do chores for your parents.

Letting others beat on you is not a good way to make money.

Sound advice Jaxx. On the subject of Blood_Grooves age, I hope that he is buying knives with his parents consent and knowledge, otherwise bad things can come of that.

Blood_Grooves, your enthusiasm is good, but don't let it get the best of you. I bought knives from the time I was 12. If I knew then what I know now, I would have probably spent my money more wisely (bought Busse that is) and I sure would have be a bit more responsible with my blades than I was back then. I should hope that you know that a sharpened piece of steel is no toy, it is a serious tool to be given respect. That being said, let me say that working for McDonald's or some other fast food place is a more dignified way to make money than having a "friend" beat on you or eating goodness only knows what. You may be too young to get a job like fast food right now, but in the future never turn your nose up at an honest dollar.

Friends, young Blood_Grooves here is a prime example of why, while having fun of a more mature nature, we have to be cognizant of the fact that there are young impressionable people who come here and they drink (no pun intended) in the good as well as the bad.

Welcome Blood Grooves, wish I had a place like this when I was 14.

Like others said, please don't do anything dangerous just to get a knife:thumbup:

I do feel most 14 year olds I know are plenty ready for a big knife. Most around here are hunting with a gun by age 12.

Everyone I knew had a machette when I was 12, we would have contest to see who could chop down the biggest tree in the fewest swings. Man, that was fun (we didn't know the earth needed those trees)....I may have contibuted to global warming:eek:

You sound responsible to me, have all the fun you can while your young...just be Carefull!!!

...hmmmm, I sense a sneaky Vasco Wear collecting Hog:confused:

Don't trust him BG! He has more than we really know about. (no, I'm not talking about what's in his purse)

No, I wish. Back when I was young and dumb I bought CS and other well hyped stuff that couldn't hold a candle to my users now. I've been saved brothers and sisters, saved from lesser quality blades that is! :D

Purse huh? I can always count on you Kev. I am glad I haven't mailed my Christmas cards yet. I need to find a box for a special present for you now. Tell Jody not to open it before you get home, in fact you might want to have her leave the room..er..house before you open the box. It will be a special present, the kid's will have worked really hard on it for you. I mean they will have strained themselves for this one. :D

good luck on your quest for busse knives! just don't get caught with them by the popo! sure would hate to forefeit a $450 knife!!! or even a $187 one. your parents might catch some heat too. just listen to the good advice being given here. also don't make the same mistake you made sharpening your game warden with a battle mistress! ouch! (probably won't escape with just a papercut)

Young Blood Grooves. You've gotten a lot of good advice here from people who really do have your best interests at heart. Read what has been said and take what you can from it. I for one would really like to hear something from you at this point. I wish you well and would like to know that you have heard what has been said here today. Good Luck. Stay in school and treat your steel with the respect it deserves.
Good Luck

You sure you can't get a job?

When I was 14 I wanted a motorcycle so bad it hurt. I'd call the shop everyday just to see if they had anything new. Mom said she'd never buy me one, and if I wanted one I'd have to get it myself. I went right out and got myself a job... I was a 14 year old telemarketer! That's right folks, I was "Big Jim Willis" with the Alabama Sports Festival (can you say SCAM). I worked 17.5 hours an week and brought home $67 for it. Got a motorcycle in a month! Kept that job and learned how to smoke, drink and cuss like a grown up.

Two morals to the story.
1) If you want a job you can get one. People who aren't even legally allowed to have jobs in the US have them. Make pizzas, wash cars, walk dogs, cut grass, wear a billboard... WHATEVER!
2) My son will NOT have a job until he's at least 16. Having a job when you're too young makes you grow up too fast. Enjoy being a kid while you can. You've got the rest of your life to work!

Do fun odd jobs and you'll have the neccesary cash before you know it. Good luck, and have fun (while you can)!

I can't wait! I'll take all the free sharpening compound I can get:thumbup:

Hey Bloodgrooves... great choice in a knife! Congratulations on your research! The Busse will last you a lifetime and you will, hopefully, look back on the decision to buy a Busse as one of your best purchasing decisions ever (but beware... busse's are addictive) :D. Always buy the best quality you can afford. For me, at the time, it was a Randall, and one day I will pass it along to my kids. I still cherish that knife. Some of the guys on here are worried about your well-being... maybe it is the father in us. I share their concerns but recall some of my finest memories as a young man were made with a rifle, shotgun, and knife. If your parents agree that you are responsible enough to buy the Busse... then buy it. It will serve you well for a lifetime and you will build fond memories, and perhaps one day you will share it with your own kids.

Oh sorry i missspeld paints i spelled it pants sorry.

and by the way i do do small things around the neiborhood to get money. do you recall me saying i like plants... dosn't that just say "pulling weeds" to you. well thats what i do, i garden. this gets me some money plus chritmas, plus, my B-day, plus my stupid things i do, i get enough money to buy it.

It just go's to show you good grades(3.6) really make your parents trust you. and i have a big bro (he's 22) i have learned from his mistake. he's done some dumb stuff. thats why i havnt' got in trouble with the cops once in my life. excepted once (i was airsofting. they thought they were really guns but they were clear can you say DUMB)

And those Dads out their that say that ill hurt my self with a BM ya i probably will, but i am a quick learner. i never really droped a knive untill about 4 months ago and i droped my kuki, ya i did try to catch it it cut pretty deep. guess what i wont do again, ya catch a knife.

And i am not just some kid wanting a big knife i was out of that stage like 4 years ago. i want something to pair my GW with. luckly get a piggy back sheath.

I have to explain this to everyone COLLECTING KZNIVE IS A HOBBY!!! ya its a dangerous hobby but i love doing it.

But i sayed all this to clear things up but sadly my bikes going down the drain:thumbdn::thumbdn::thumbdn: if you know what i mean so i will probibly have to buy a bike insted of a BM. yes it suck i really wanted a BM but i need a bike. but if theres any left over maybe ill start to save up for a skeley warden i did always want one of those

I got a REAL knife and hatchet set for my pre-teen birthday. Still use them. Depends on the kid. The worst thing I ever did with them- left in the sheath and rusted a little. If kids are separated from the real world too long they just have to learn the same things anyway when they're older. BTW, any kid can reach in the drawer and get a 12" butcher knife.:)ss.

Blood grooves. Your spelling is atrocious. I'd forget about knives, forget about bikes and concentrate on becoming proficient in English. And complain to the principal of your school. Tell him or her to fire your teachers or else check their bona fides.

lol mfaster he said he just types too fast and i guess doesnt feel like going back and erasing it, but some punctuation definitely wouldnt hurt every now and then. you know what, some of the sentences could be added together too(and some could be broken up likewise) to make it easier to read. either way im glad to see someone else that is interested in knives at such a young age
