So says the title above---
name a piece of the lot that does not see rotation or use; why is optional but welcome.
If they all skirts, please name that popular chess piece
For me, no piece currently sits sedentary,
however I find myself constantly grabbing a Victorinox Synergy, and i have not babied it, wonderful steed of a blade.

Ent hert werts like'at b'fore. Come again?

These nerds:
Top was a gift for a buddy. Middle was...I don't know what came over me. Every time I look at it I think I'd rather sell it than carry it, but unless Buck puts that exact handle on another 112...I dunno. The bottom one was because I couldn't believe the price - somebody else's former safe queen, even came with the original sales receipt. What the hell am I gonna use it for?

The bottom one doesn’t get used because the top one does. Top one was gift from wife for Christmas 2007. I picked a second one up at the same time just because I liked them. The bottom one sits in a display with a couple of other knives.IMG_1702.jpeg

Half or more than half seldom get carried and I don’t want to sell them, I’m stuck with these knives.
Yeah, I have a whole bunch of knives that don't get carried, but not because they're special, or safe queens. All my knives were bought to be users, but most will eventually get put away, and I go back to the same ones that I was carrying. I'm old, and when I find something that works for me, I just tend to keep on using it. Like this pair:

I’m also in the .01% club.

I buy knives I like and I enjoy owning them.

Lots of people collect things that only get looked at.

I view my collection as a local knife shop, one stocked with only knives I like. I can go into the store and pick anyone to try for a day or a week. Then return it and try another one out.

The coolest thing about this store, is the museum section. Historical knives and such. Pieces of history I’m allowed to touch and even use if I want to.

Most of my collection doesn’t get used. I have about a dozen or so that check enough boxes to be considered for carry, but even only a few of those actually get used regularly. Some are too nice (or too expensive) to get beaten up, especially when I have so many cheaper ones that can do the job just as well. And then there are some that can no longer be replaced. I occasionally go through and pick out a handful that I know will never get used and aren’t particularly unique or interesting enough to keep and they go up on the block. These days I’ve been replacing those with more *budget-friendly* pieces that are more likely to get used, but I still have a bunch of safe queens that I keep warm and dry for their uniqueness or some sentimental attachment.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Worst that happens is my wife gets rid of 'em after I'm gone. (But she's smarter than that.)

Have fun. (You should know, you started a YOLO thread.)

I own hundreds of knives that have never so much as opened an envelope, and most likely never will. I don't have pictures of 'em all, because I'm lazy and won't ever feel like getting them all out of their various chests and drawers at once just to take pics. Why own knives I'll never use? Simple. I like having them, and I am not perturbed by the "USE YOUR STUFF!!!!?!!1!!?!" crowd you sometimes see posting. They're free to use their stuff as they see fit. Me, I just like owning 'em, taking them out to admire every now and then. I have a dedicated core of around 20 knives I actually carry and use, but even those see much more "carry" than "use".

For a large percentage of the population, if you aren't in a kitchen, there isn't much need for a knife, I personally have to look specifically for ways to use them in this world of easy-open, pull-the-tabs, and "presliced for your convenience". Our ancestors used knives to process animals. Most of us "process" Amazon boxes.

But the pictures we all post here sure are pretty!

Emotional support knives.

You're a pretty smart fella, Forrest.

100%. Absolutely they are. There are a lot of days that will go by, I put my knife in my pocket that morning and then the only time it comes out of my pocket that day will be when it gets taken out and set in my EDC stuff tray on the counter that evening when I get home. BUT, when I leave the house, part of my getting in the car "ritual" is to pat my right rear pocket to make sure my wallet's there, and right front pocket to make sure my knife is there. Every time. Need or not, not carrying a knife? Well, that just ain't natural!
