What Pre-2005 Spyderco Model For Sprint Run? Which Materials?

When were the Hossom models made? Because those were pretty cool fixed blades, green micarta handles and all. :)

The Hossum models I believe were released in late 2005 or early 2006. They were interesting fixed blades but they didn't do all the well on the sales charts.

All cool suggestions guys. What I really want to see brought back is the Spyderco Kumo. Any steel would be fine but 3v or maybe K390 would be amazing.

Spydie Jess Horn FFG in any decent steel! Micarta (white preferred), but with SS bolsters!!

Interesting request!! you don't hear too many people asking for the return of those Jess Horn models. I actually liked the Burgundy 2005 Jess Horn model they did with ZDP-189 just a bit better than I did the Caly Jr. ZDP model they did in the same format.

That White Micarta version I believe was an A.G. Russell exclusive if my memory is functioning right today. And the C-27 jigged bone Jess Horn is still one of the very most sought after collector pieces. I've wondered if the trapezoidal opening indent was Jess Horn's design or if it was Spyderco's? I never got the straight scoop on that one. But as far as I know it was the only Spyder that didn't have the Spyder-Hole in the blade.

I actually prefer the spydie hole on this bc the bump fits my thumb great. But not a fan of the swedge.

The only thing I never liked about that KUMO fixed blade model was the corded handle. If they would have put a Micarta or G-10 handle on that blade I would probably still own one. I did like the overall blade design but that corded handle just never felt right to me at all. I'm not exactly sure if the KUMO was "pre-2005" >> actually it seems like it was either an 06 or 07 release. I'll have to do some checking on that one.

Another fixed blade that was Pre-2005 was the Vagabond model. Had they made it with a better blade steel and better handle I would still own one of those too. The Vagabond was a very interesting outdoor design but AUS-6 blade steel never worked for me.

I would love to see a S90v Mouse in Ti.

OG Police. Titanium grip and M390 blade!

I want M4 so bad, but not in a pinned grip.

I'll go one better than that>> How about the POLICE model just like you described along with a ROOKIE model also with a Titanium handle and M-4 blade steel?

The Rookie model is such an ideal sized folder for general EDC uses and M-4 would be a great blade steel for that model.

It has to be Saber ground otherwise it's just an Endura and a Delica.

Yeah I could go along with that. Actually I think there are a couple of features that separate the Rookie from a Delica or Endura model. I have nothing at all against a sabre grind but I've always wondered how a Rookie model would be with a full flat grind.

The handle configuration on the ROOKIE seems like a minature version of the POLICE handle. I've owned both the G-10 Rookie and the stainless version both from the ATS-55 era and they didn't much remind me any model other than a small version of the POLICE.

But the ROOKIE model is such a perfect EDC size that I believe there are all kinds of changes you could implement that would even make the model even better yet IMO.

Here is a 2008 grey G10 sprint Rookie, with a FFG regrind. Sorry but it looks like a Grasshopper with a pocket clip. That is not a Rookie. I'm still not happy with the FFG Police Model. It's no longer the same model when such a distinct change is made to its look.

My first spyderco was a "Q". I'd love to see a modern version. G10 and maybe a lock back this time.

First, the C60 Ayoob in SE H1 steel. G10 scales in dark blue with the aggressive texture.
Second, the C46 Lum Tanto in a clad tool steel like HAP40/SUS410. Rafir Noble scales.
I'd snap up an Ayoob sprint. Although, and I know I sound like a broken record, I'd love it if they could squeeze the Powerlock into it.
