If you could go back in history to meet one of our ancestors and you find your grand grand grand,,,,,,,,father slicing up his hunt with a piece of stone or sticking a baby dinosaur with a piece of wood (I know dinosaurs went extinct b4 humans came about) Anyway ,

What knife would you give him/her? As a present?

What knife do you think cave man would appreciate more? or probably kill you for it :D
 
An axe or an adze, or it's modern translation. Maybe a fibreglass handle, more likely wood. Then I'd wait for the "time storm" to wipe our civilization out. Joe
 
Not to start any sort of flame war, but personally, I'd give Adam and Eve some Spydies and a nice balisong (BM 42)... if I could go back in time, then I assume I could go forward in time and get some Stretch 2's first :)

I would get him to show me how to make a stone tool that makes my high dollar blades look like butterknives. Those guys were a lot smarter than we give them credit.
 
I would swap them a box of Bark River Highlands for several of their artifacts and then do a show on the Discovery Channel, make a ton of money and buy more knives.
 
LOL! Well I guess I'd just learn from him (like what silent hunter said). I might give him knowledge from our time, like how to make metal weapons and tools and such. Just to see how far we advance or if we're all wiped out. It'd be neat either way!

Knife ?? Did you ever see someone butcher an animal with a flint knife ?? They work very well !! Give him some LED lights to illuminate his cave and a 45-70 to shoot dinosaurs !
 
Dinosaurs and cavemen? Preposterous, the dinosaurs died only a couple hundred thousand years before man. :D

I would like to change my answer. I would hire them as insurance agency commercial actors, and then give them their own tv show. Wait, its already been done...
 
This whole thread is against the Prime Directive. ;) We would never make it on Star Trek.
 
Now that's a question I've never heard before. I think if you gave a Caveman a knife he would cut, dig, hammer, and pry stuff for sure.(sounds like some folks on this fourm) SRKW Camp Tramp for my Caveman friend.
 
A couple of lighters and a rifle. The flint knife worked well enough to leave it alone. They can be VERY sharp when made properly.
 
A CRK Shadow. I could put a small lighter and some fishing hooks/line in there. Also may be interested in a small toothbrush and floss.
