I'm sure there are others on here that know a lot more than I do on the subject. However, I believe this is known as the 'Z' style opener, among collectors, and was used on earlier models from the 60s into the 70s, when it was ultimately dropped for the current style.

Thanks for your response. Actually, my query was out of idle curiosity. It did look like a factory job, but I guess we'll never know, now that Wenger is out of business.
