What SAK/Multitool do you have on the way?

After looking around for a while, I picked up a Wenger SI locally for a good price today.... and I've closed the blade on the bail once already. Sonuvabitch!

A common complaint, don't feel too bad.

BTW, congrats on your SI!!!

just requires a modicum of thought, i did it too when i first got my SI
now the SI is "the one"

so dont let this get you down, just consider it as the SI giving a lesson in slowing down and thinking things through
bet you wont do it again neither :)

Making the children watch MacGyver on Netflix was maybe not such a good idea. Here is what I currently have on the way.
Red shield black cadet.
Evolution 63
Evolution 11
Highlander Red
Evolution 16 Black
One-Hand Trekker - Non-Serrated

Wow! lol, this is gonna be like Christmas in September for you with all that on the way.

Nothing on the way for me at the moment. I'm still tickled pink with my Pioneer that just arrived a few days ago. That and my Farmer and have captivated me I must say.

So after finding that I wanted a thinner, more simpler pocket knife than my Farmer I went on a traditional spree. Then I missed the trusty, reliable tank like feeling of the alox saks. At least until I remembered Victorinox made the Pioneer model(doh!).
So I've been on another circle and have come back the the SAK, yet again.

The Pioneer arrived yesterday and it's JUST what I've been looking for. Perfectly suitable for all kinds of carry methods and scenarios. Not too thin, not too thick. Just the right amount of tools for an edc pocket knife.

They are an awesome EDC! I carried this one in my pocket for about 20 years and along with a Champion in my camera bag, it handled everything I needed.

I didn't baby it, even used it to hammer small nails/tacks (with the backsprings) etc and it's just as tight and snappy as when I took it out of the box in 1983!

I hope one day my Pioneer will look a little like yours. The amount of wear, character and stories it seems to have is just awesome!

Thanks bud. SAKs (esp ALOX) are so long lived that they can really become part of your life....lots of happy, and sad memories connected with this knife....my ex-wife has it's twin which I gave to her back in '83. :)

A simple Super Tinker is on its way to me. I have realised, that I don´t have one yet  ... so this needed a change!

Thanks my friend. The Climber is a permanent companion of mine, but I have no real use for a corkscrew... beerdrinker to the bone :p ... so a Philips screwdriver is a much useful tool, at least for me.

I just ordered a Wenger EVO S52. I reckon I should buy one now before they're no longer available, as Victorinox are putting their (I think 2nd rate) version of the can opener on their new Evolution line (their re-release of the old Wenger EVO line). Interestingly, the old Wenger EVO S52 does pretty much everything the Victorinox Handyman does, but because Wenger gets the nail file and the main knife in the same bay, it saves almost an eighth of an inch in terms of width, making it about the same width as a Victorinox Ranger AND having the pliers that the Ranger doesn't have.

I still don't understand why Victorinox insists on their big and small knife combo - I'd much prefer a knife/file combo.

I was always a Victorinox guy, and I held off on Wengers for a long time, because although I have always thought Wenger had better scissors and a better can opener, and Wenger had a nail file on pretty much all their knives, Victorinox had the hook and their can opener doubled as a Phillips head screwdriver. I would have reconsidered had I realized that the end of Wenger's nail file could (in a pinch) be used as a Phillips screwdriver.

My go-to knives were always the Victorinox Climber or Sportsman (it has the nail file - yay!) as everyday carry, and a Ranger or Handyman if I needed a bit more versatility, but I reckon if I get the Wenger EVO S52, I can probably replace both the Ranger and Handyman, because I only ever used the file/metal saw as a nail file anyway.

Corkscrew has two uses: 1 if there's wine but no beer :), 2 it holds the cute little screwdriver for those of us who wear eyeglasses. And all Victorinox SAKs that have the can opener have a Phillips screwdriver - it's just that they disguise it as a flat head screwdriver.

Congrats on your Pioneer! I just got mine about a week or so ago and it's an outstanding knife/tool... Slim and got all the basics covered with screwdrivers, bottle opener and awl.
