What Sebenza 21 is most sought after?

I would like one that I can use as but will also increase in value. My 247 is already my edc.

Use and value increase are somewhat opposites, but maybe something in a Regular Sebenza(if you go outside the 21's)
IMO the best user is the Micarta inlay Sebenza which would be either a Classic MM or 21
There isn't too much in the 21's that have already shown increase in value(to my knowledge)-maybe some limited numbered runs and the Mammoth and Mammoth bark

If it were me, I would totally drop price appreciation from the equation , and buy something that had great appeal to me , then use it. That will give you more value than price appreciation. In general buying knives is not a good investment. The real value is in the love you have for a knife after years of use-as the ad says priceless. While I like the micarta inlay the plain Sebenza has a lot going for it and will develop a mucho character over the years.

If you're a collector, you've seen the previous posts. If you're a looking for an EDC, I'd go with a newer 21. The heat-treat has been nudged up a bit, which was sought after by many fans.
You may be swayed by all of the wood inlays, the special graphic editions, carbon fiber this-n-that... I have owned many of these, and yet my favorite has always been the plain titanium slabs...for carry.
For Looks? Yeah, the wood inlays...

My favorite have always been well used plain scaled Sebenzas. The new "Paisley" graphic may be calling my name though!

I don't think any 21 is going to be very sought after compared to older sebenzas. I mean probably the most sought after sebenzas are the ones with a particular date people want. Design wise really anything unique will jack up the price, but I rarely see any 21's go for more the 7-800 bucks. Which compared to some older sebenzas is not much. Even damascus and mamoth bark or custom graphics really only go for a few hundred as apposed to a few thousand that you see original run sebenzas go for.

As with anything the "best materials" are usually found in the newer models. So basically, visit the CRK forums, find one you think is best for you and go from there.

You're still trying too hard. There is no such thing as a "best" in the knife world. What is best for me is probably not best for you.

I joined almost 2 years ago to try and find out then what Sebbie I should get and here it is 2 years later and I still cant make a decision. Im just trying to learn what fits me best. So far the Wayfarer 247 fits me very well. The sebenza though is my unicorn.

If im gonna buy one I want it to be the nicest one available. What says the hive?

So what changed from when you started this very controversial thread 1.5 years ago?

OP:

Did not like them even a little. I tried to because they look beautiful. Did not like the feel in my hand or the liner lock. I also looked at the benchmade titanium and disliked it also so im not hating on the Sebenzas. After handeling many different knives I found I prefer knives a bit smaller.

Just in case you are serious about this thread I will add to what others have said.....buying an expensive collector discontinued knife to use but you still want it to increase in value as an investment is ridiculous. Good luck.

I didnt say use to death. Its not going to be my edc. I atated the wayfarer is my edc.

Like others have stated it's not "what CRK is the best" it's what is it you like. All CRK's are extremely high quality built knives. I have some original Sebenzas, some unique graphic Sebenzas, micarta inlayed Sebenza, and carbon fiber inlayed Sebenza but my newest small Inkosi is my favorite. There's been some subtle improvements made over the Sebenzas and I really like the looks. Today for ME it's the "best" CRK. In my opinion, CRK aren't meant to be collectors items they're meant to be carried and used. Remember, Sebenza is Zulu for work. There may be a few knives made for collectors but I can't speak to that.

Nor did I say use to death or as an EDC. I said exactly what you did: "use". I stand by what I said. A collectors item meant as an investment that you still want to use is not a good idea. Knives in general meant as an investment is poor financial planning. Much better ways to turn money into more money.

I think you should look at it the opposite way. Buy a used Seb at a large discount from new and it will hold its value. That is what I did. I bought this used Large 21 Micarta for $100 off new and I have no doubt that I could sell it for what I paid.

Agreed... If you want a user knife to retain value, then buy it used in the first place. That way the previous owner takes the "no-longer NIB" loss.

My most sought after CRK is currently a red micarta small Inkosi made on my birthdate. Once I get that, I'll move on the next most sought after...

It's the Circle of Life.
