Ray,

I'm reading this from overseas. I can hardly believe it. Please let me know if there is anything I can contribute long distance. My thoughts and prayers are with you. And we are all grateful that you are safe and healthy.

I answered on another forum earlier Ray, but I'm just heartbroken for you. You are always so quick to help us out with our little problems, and now this. Hang in my friend, you'll get through this. We'll all do what we can. Like has been said before, I'm very glad you're ok.

oh my gosh Ray! I feel horrible....at least you are okay to forge another day..... We will help all we can......
be patient friend.

Ray,
My heart hurts for your loss.
Betty and I just returned from a trip to North Carolina and I just saw your thread.

I feel really sorry for you but echoing many comments in thsi trhead, am glad nobody got hurt.
I am sure it will not take long and you will be making knives again, buddy, and if there is anything I can do to help, just let me know.

Really sorry to hear of your loss....and it IS a loss. Glad nobody was hurt.

Just a fleeting thought: did the fire get hot enough and stay hot long enough to anneal your anvils and/or tools? I've heard of that happening.

This is a good time for all of us to re-think the lay-out and contents of our shops.

Best wishes going forward.

I got a feeling the anvils got hot enough to be annealed. I looked for a ball bearing this afternoon but I guess they were all in the shop. The only tool I saved was a weed wacker I dropped off for repairs on Wednesday. Call my tool less.

Wow Ray, I just get an ill feeling looking at those pictures. Try to look at the bright side, it's hard I know. When you rebuild, you'll be able to make it exactly as you want it the first time. Take care my friend, and God Bless. John Merling

The news makes me sick to my stomach. Whatever you need, let us know.

Ray, that's the worst news I've heard in a very long time. Let us know what you need, friend. I have to say one other thing about you. Through all your trouble, you are keeping your chin up better than most folks could.

Ray,

This is a pretty handy bunch...when you are ready...maybe it will be time for good ole fashioned "roof raising"?

I'm not much of a carpenter...but I'll be happy to make the trip...to lend a hand....

Let us know what kind of stuff you need to get rolling again...

Shane

Ray,
Sorry to see the carnage, but am glad you and your family are okay.
I hope the insurance will take care of the majority of it.
I know all the little stuff is a major loss, too.
Let us know when you are ready to have stuff sent your way.
I know I, and others can scare up some tools and supplies.
Take care.

Ray im So sorry for your loss, Your one of my Favorit knife makers. I hope your Insurance Pays up so your life can return to normal.

Here's an idea:
Why don't we post a list of each of our personal "TOP TEN" pieces of 'most essential gear for the shop'? Then when help starts coming in, we could make a checklist of who could chip in what.
Just a thought.

Just saw this.... so sorry to hear of this Ray! It's making me cringe just thinking of all the tools and equipment that you no doubt have collected over a lifetime going up in smoke. Very sad indeed. Stay with it though, your new shop is going to be even better than the old one! Let us know if we can help in any way.
