What should I look for in a rifle and why?

My work gun.....

Is that .223 or .308?

You couldn't give me a .223, although there are TONS of people who like/love/drool over them, 55 gr is just not enough bullet.

Really? It is 223. Ever see someone shot with a 223? I carry it on patrol and SWAT and don't feel outgunned.

Yeah, have seen a few "after the party is over" .223 situations, and have seen some messy business with .22's as well.

....BUT, I still prefer 168 grains to 55. Makes me feel all gushy and stuff.;)

No insult intended.

no doubt the .308 is better but with decent ammo (ie the 77gr blackhills for 1) the 5.56 will do the job.

isnt it odd that the 5.45X39 is similar to the 5.56 but no one ever implies that the 5.45 is lacking, the afghans called it "poison bullet" lol, i suppose the bullet is designed to tumble, but still its always made me wonder WTF is up with it.

really like my AK74 by the way, and the 5.45X39.

but also like my colt lightweight sporter AR15 a lot too, wouldnt feel undergunned with either one.
