EDC for me is a 4.5" fixed blade. I have larger, I have smaller, but this is what I prefer. And the knife I carry only comes in the one blade length, unless I want to spend a lot of money.

There is no perfect size for me, so I carry an assortment...just answering the thread title

For a folder, i find about 3.5 inch blades to have a good size handle and plenty of blade for most tasks I need a folder for although 3.25" would suffice
For a fixed blade, when I'm in the woods, I'll carry anything up to about 5.75" but 3.75-4.25" most of the time

Depends on the plan(s) for the day. Still working remote so still in apartment. 2.75"-3" for those days. Getting out for the day, there is always a lock blade in 3.5-4" range, a granddaddy barlow with a 4+" blade and possibly a trapper in the 3.0-3.25" range.

3.5”-3.75” here. I feel like for the most part 3.5 is a great balance of not being too obtrusive to carry, yet still having plenty of blade.

My opinion too but mostly I carry PM2 and Manix 2 which are both just under 3.5".

This was a hard vote. I have different folders with relatively close blade lengths that represent different of the choices. My top EDC are the Bugout, Para 3, ZT0350 and 562CF. A of them fall between 3" and 3.5" which is the sweet spot for my liking.

I am retired and live in a rural , semi-wilderness area .

Work and play mostly on my my own land ...so I carry whatever I want or need .

I tend to carry larger knives , because I can . Used to carry more BAK fixed blades / machetes , but now usually just big folders .

Routinely, a pair of Cold Steel 5.5" blade folders . Unless I need something bigger for the day's work :







When going to town , I usually opt for something smaller , 4" or even less . Just to be sociable .

However, the Resilience, at 4.25", is my favorite EDC folder of all time. But to me that's a little too big for an EDC fixed blade, so I went with the 3.75"-4" vote.

It’s your favorite EDC folder? Nice! Way up there for me too. Would’ve been great if Spyderco offered this in 14C28N or something nicer, but the 8Cr is serviceable. The full flat grind is amazing. It’s like a mini chef knife.

Of course I am thinking of small fixed blades, somewhere between 3 to 4 inches. I voted for 3.25 to 3.5 since I feel that hits the sweet spot. For folders I think 2.5 to 3.5.
