What size knife for a glove compartment?

I have two knives in the SUV that are complementary to what I EDC: a serrated Spyderco Military if I ever need to cut - say - a seat belt, and a 13“ chopper.

If you don’t EDC a fixed blade, I suggest a 5-6“ bladed one for your glove compartment. Too many available to list, depending on budget, etc. A Buck 119 would do fine, for instance. Why that size ? Because it can sharpen a pencil and cut a loaf of bread. :)

I keep durable knives in my cars. My wifes car has a buck 110 in it, my truck a Gerber fixed blade.

Edit, I keep the knife in my truck in the console, and the buck by the spare tire in my wife's car. I'm a believer it's better to not keep a "weapon" by the papers im going to have to grab with a trooper standing by me.

Have a friend who once was pulled over and his wife had left her 38 in the glove box and didn't tell him, it went how you'd expect when he went go grab the papers

I suggest a mora companion orange stainless and a small flat diamond sharpener.
I had a lot of fun looking around at suggestions on this thread. Thank you all.

I just ordered the mora, 95% because it comes with a plastic sheath that looks easy to clean. I originally thought I’d order something more (whatever the knife equivalent is of) “holster jewelry”, but practicality won out this time.

something a bit bigger
How wide is your glove box ?

I got the middle one in this pic , with the blaze orange handle and sheath , specifically for my wife's car .

Easy color to locate in a hurry ( emergency ) and doesn't look as " tactical " .

It's a Cold Steel SRK-C ( compact) . Great all around , tough fixed blade knife .

If you keep any weapon in your glove box, along with documents that might be requested at a police stop , be careful to inform them of such .

I could have saved thousands of dollars and been just fine with just a mora. I think using a extra coarse diamond stone on the bevels and then fine croc stick and strop for the micro bevel is one of the easiest ways to keep a razor sharp knife.

My dailiy cutting needs are covered by whatever I've got in my pocket. But I carry a Cold Steel Pocket Bushman in my car for major emergencies. It's roughly equivalent to a fixed blade in robustness, but won't raise the eyebrows of any LEO should I get pulled over for some reason.
Maybe it doesn't raise eyebrows because they've tried to open, and more importantly CLOSE that bad boy!

I always have to inventory my fingers after closing mine. Dang sturdy, and sharp from the factory.

What size? Anything that you might need that'll fit.

Personally, I just keep a cheap folder along w/a cheap flashlight & a cheap emergency window breaker/seat belt cutter in the glove box of each of my 5 vehicles. No point IMO to carry anything expensive in a glove box. Whatever it is, it just needs to work when it's needed.

If you're gonna condemn a knife to a glove department
Then don't spend a lot of money or care for it
Too much..
I did that once for my wife, she had a cold steel counter tac ii from Japan
And a Spyderco civilian in the side door "pocket"

Buck 110 or if that is too chunky, the 110 slim select.

I have the 110 slim select in the console. It's stainless and composite material. Nothing to worry about and always ready to go.

I carried a Delica 4 combo edge for about tens years. Only used it once in all that time. Trunk, in a get home bag, is a Mora of some sort (both cars) and CS shovel and hatchet in mine only.
I think I moved Delica to my center console recently.
