I had to go with large and extra-large. About the only thing that will displace my 8OT even for a few days is a Queen 49 or Case 6375.
Even then I end up going back to recover a little pocket room.

Large Stockman.

Queen 49 in Zebrawood is a handsome looking knife, too bad I never got hold of one when they were plentiful.

Blade rub on stockman's always bothered me. Seems to be the norm rather than the exception.

I'm glad the blades on my Buck 301 are tight together... the spey blade's tip is outside the body of the knife when it's closed. If it wasn't nestled up so close to the sheeps foot blade, it might be a carry issue.

This is not a great example of Buck's craftsmanship. Notice the scale on the opposite side is a completely different shade...

This is the Schrade stockman I bought in high school in 1975. I dropped it off a dock into deep water in Lake George early one spring. A few years later, I had started SCUBA diving. I remembered losing the knife and made a dive in the area where I lost it. BINGO!

I still have it. The rust sort of etched the clip blade a little, but other than that, she was none the worse for the wear.

Where is all of the above

I have a ton of larger blades. For that reason I am leaning to the medium and small. But I am just starting my stockman adventure.

You forgot 3 5/8 as in the Case Medium Stockman 6318. I voted for medium but the 6318 is my preferred size.

That Uncle Henry in the bottom pic caught my eye immediately. I carried this one every single day for about 30 years, and it's worn out the right front pocket of many a pair of jeans. The blades became pretty wobbly, so I retired it.

Awesome knife. I like seeing it with all that character.

If you were so inclined, you can tighten up swinden easily. Use a hard rubber or plastic hammer to smack the end of the bolsters, which bend it tighter to the blades and remove or really help with wobble. It sounds crude but really works well and doesn't beat up the knife if done carefully. I put tape on the bolsters and lay the knife on a piece of wood on top of an anvil. Smack and check, if it gets too tight that may be a problem.
