What strider should i get

What is the maintenance like for the SNG? What tools do I need to take it apart? Do I need to take it apart? Can I just use regular lubricant like tuf-glide or do I need to use the fluorinated grease stuff like for Sebenzas? I really want to try an SNG but I sort of rather get the ZT301.

I'm not about to dis Strider knives but IMHO there is almost no need for one with the ZT 300 series running under $240.

The ZT300 weighs 8oz though and they are pretty wide and take up the whole pocket from what I heard. The weight part isn't very appealing.

Also in the case of the ZT301

I've had a Rg SnG for two years. I wash it under running hot water about every six months, and use a little Milspec lube on the pivot. The lock is still as stiff as new, no blade wobble, and locks up solid as a rock.

Just use it hard and put it away wet, it's what it's built for.

I've just kept mine clean but have done nothing else to it. I'be been EDC'ing the 0302 for a year now (90%) and it acts just like the day I bought it. Haven't even had to take it apart yet. I blow it out with compressed air every couple months and keep it sharp and that's it.

I like carrying it but that's just me.

I thought I wanted Ranger Green but on a fluke I bought a ZT 302, Coyote Brown and found out I like it more. I even have two all black (my favorite if I had to choose) 0300s and I still like to carry the Coyote Brown more. Go figure.

Now youre talkin, I was going to say my favorite color is ZERO TOLERANCE:D

I like how the OP says "I want a strider" and everyone comes in here and talks about ZT knives (which are great btw), he didnt really ask for opinions on strider (which we ALL have), he just wants to know what color to get on a knife he has already decided on.

I suggest the green or if you can get it black.

Anyone?

for lube, i use a high viscosity oil. just rub a little on the washers.

for dissasembly, it is pretty simple. at least to get the blade off. two hex keys inserted in the pivot and turned opposite each other should do it.

i just kept spinning a hex key in the pivot (only one) until it caught and started to loosen.

you dont need the spanner wrench.

I chose an SMF-CC in Ranger Green. The subdued grayish-green looks really good.

I personally LOVE the stone washed finish. And, I think the coyote brown looks awesome with that finish. (Heck, any color looks great with the stone washed finish, but especially that coyote brown... *DROOL*)

Hey guys I'm thinking of getting a strider SnG and was wondering What color you guys thinks looks best for the G-10 handles. The coyote brown or the ranger green

thanks guys :)

Here's my RG SnG. These close-up pic's tell the story.

Get the Recurve PT. A pocket freindly Strider is soooo wicked.

Very true for a small folder. I've had 2 different SnGs & 2 different PTs, but the recurve PT is the one I've used the most & the only one of the 4 that I still have.

While I still love my small classic micarta Seb, I do find myself carrying & using the recurve PT so much more.

However, if I were to carry another SnG, it'd probably be a satin blade one in OD. I just like the OD, but the tan (Coyote brown) is not bad, either. BTW, regarding the ZT 300s, they're great, very well made. However, they're very heavy & wide for carry. Some don't mind, but I try to keep the weight down, as I carry other "weightier" items on a daily basis.

Decisions, decisions...

Got a digicam tanto SnG with Black handle. Like the digicam finish.

But i really want a concealed carry black handle with digicam blade.
