What sunglasses do you EDC?

I too, wear Oakley Monster Dogs. I have the Ducati edition, with the Red Oakley symbol. These are worn outside of work.

At work its a different story. I wear cheapo brand safety glasses. $35 for 10 pair. Scratches, breaks, or losses and I don't cry about it. Just grab another pair fresh from their plastic wrapping.

I wear the Monster Dog's as well, only mine are the normal version. I'd rather have a pair like yours, but they didn't have them at the place where I got mine. I've been looking for a second pair, but can't really decide what I like. I'm a big guy, so most of the smaller Oakley stuff either doesn't fit or looks really weird on my large face. :p

I wear polycarbonate Rx Transitions in my Bollé Thunderstruck frames. Espresso-coloured frames of course. :) They're on if I leave the house and stay on until I get home again... nice to always have protected eyes! If it's sunny, I have sunglasses, and when it's not, or if I'm indoors, they're just glasses.

Just out of curiosity, and you might not know the answer, but can you get those Transition lenses without prescriptions? It would be nice to have a pair of sunglasses that would adjust depending on the light. Some days I get to work real early, and need a lighter tint then I do later on in the day, and on the drive home there are spots where I need my sunglasses, and then around the next turn I dont. Kind of a pain to keep taking them off and putting them back on.

EDIT: After posting this I was poking around on Oakley's website I stumbled across their Transition line, so disregard my stupidity. :p

De4thStr1ke,

I have the transitions in my Rx glasses and they don't work well in the car. The react to UV and most windscreens have a UV filter in them. Other than that, I'm really pleased with them.

Thanks for the information! I've got tinting on my window's for sure, and (like you said) more than likely a filter too. Guess I'll just have to settle for getting another pair of sunglassses. Darn. :p

I'm not sure why mine work, but they seem to transition enough for me inside vehicles, and I consider myself somewhat sensitive to bright sunny days. They're awesome in situations where you it's a PITA to switch gear for shifting conditions, like on a motorcycle.

For me it's more about the features than the brand. They must:
have 100% UV protection/polarization
be comfortable for extended wear
and firmly stay on my head.

Currently I have a pair that are Bimini Bay(?) I think. They are coming up on one year of use. That's a record for me keeping a pair intact.

I use to wear a pair of mirrored Gargoyles. Now I wear a pair of $15 polarized lenses I found in the Wal-mart sporting goods section.

I wear Serengeti Getaways. Apart from some bitchin' (and expensive) Maui Jims, they're the only ones I could find that fit me without modification, have glass lenses, amber/driving lenses, and have a classic, non-exotic look. I can't rock funky, wild style sunglasses. The lenses are glass, but they're not heavy at all, plus they don't scratch like plastic. Most of all, they can be found relatively cheap. I would like polarized lenses, but you can't have everything (at that price).

They also have the photocromaticability, like Transition lenses, but it's much more subtle than that. They're already tinted (Transition lenses are untinted when not in sunlight), so you're still wearing sunglasses inside, and they don't get a whole lot darker than the baseline when outside. It's subtle enough that you don't really notice the difference if you're not specifically testing it; I did once, by hitting one lens with my UV flashlight for a while, then going outside with them on with identically adjusted eyes. Cool feature.

I have polarized prescription lenses in some lousy discount bent up metal eyeglass frame.

I hate my eyeglass provider and I hate my sunglasses.

My eyeglass provider is completely unable to fit a prescription lens to sunglasses frames. They are even unable to fit them to the frames in their very own display rack that are specially tagged as being able to accept prescription lenses.

Because I'm stuck with sunglass lenses in an eyeglass frame, they sit way just far out enough on my nose so that light still blinds me from all sides, and so that the sun reflects off of them into my eyes whenever it is behind me.

I figure that next time I'll just buy cheap internet prescription sunglasses instead. Even if I have to buy half a dozen pairs before I find something that works for me, I'll still come out ahead.

I got some Maui Jims a while back. Wore them for 4 days and took them back.
I was really disappointed.... They weren't prescription, but they fatigued the crap out of my eyes when driving. Not good because I drive truck.
Lady told me some peoples eyes handle different polarization differently and she had three other people bring them back for the same reason..

Not a fault of the product, the lenses were crystal clear. Now I'm back to wearing my crappy FG's until I buck up and get rx shades ....

I blew all my money on knives,so just a pair of polarised ROC Dirty Harry's at the moment.I think i might have to check out some Monster Dogs when i am bit more financial :cool:

Splurge on the polarized version, a little pricier, but they are sweet. Next time I need sunglasses I will buy exactly the same again (matte black, gray polarized lenses).
