What the hell can you carry in England? nail clippers?

I think it was yesterday I read in the New York Times Washington DC police are setting up check points (for cars), not particularly for knives, and stopping people and asking why there going into a particular area, if they don't have a good reason they're not allowed in.

Hell, the only good reason to go into any part of D.C. is to wack a politician. Those particular areas are not exactly tourist attractions. They generally coincide with crack hoods. You really should have a reason to go into those areas, although it doesn't sound exactly constitutional. I know I've accidentally ended up in those places and wished like hell there was a cop around to point me the out of there!
