I think you may have missed the main point of my post…but…enjoy your collection, as it is.I have about 10 fixed blades hope to post pics later
I never had a pull for traditional slip joints but I'll look into it and see what it doesYou’re kinda where I was 5 years ago. I grabbed up any new modern folder that came out without much regard to the overall world of EDC knives.
Your collection is sadly lacking some fixed blades, but as a primarily folding blade guy, I can see how it can happen. Maybe make a moratorium on yourself to buy no folding knives for 6 months. There’s a beautiful world that you’re missing, and I’m still struggling to catch up with.
The other thing you’re missing are traditional slip joints. I used to look down my nose at knives without locks and clips…but DAMN there’s a beautiful world of knives out there. There’s a simple elegance to a “jack knife” and dang, those thin blades cut like a knife should.
I have specific requirements of a traditional knife and most here woukd scream “HERETIC” for the way I carry them, but please don’t neglect them. No collection is complete without a solid traditional representation.
Good luck in your collecting!
I do like some fixed blades but usually no practical to carry I use my creely blades mako alot and my gryphon m10 (most under rated knife) but the others.....Honestly, slipjoints bore me and so do fixed blades. I’ve owned plenty of them and sold all of them except for like 3 fixed blades that actually have a purpose. If you don’t own them now, chances are you’re not “missing out” like some people are implying. You couldn’t pay me to buy another fixed blade or slipjoint.
I have never found a boot knife to be comfortable at all.I do like some fixed blades but usually no practical to carry I use my creely blades mako alot and my gryphon m10 (most under rated knife) but the others.....
I also trained socp with marines so I know how to use it but I'm not at war and I don't carry a knife to kill people.
As a final point if I only had one knife it would probably be the m10 it's just so versatile and comfortable it carries in my boot like a dream (I have the old version of the sheath so it's even more comfortable) everyone needs a s to try it before giving up fixed blades

No, I still don't like it. Don't like ankle holsters either.View attachment 1764338
I carry this one comfortably every day at work. Try attaching yours to the OUTSIDE of the boot…
To the OP - you seem to really enjoy using your knives, and you have a TON of folders in my opinion. So, I suggest trying something you don’t have at all. Maybe an axe/tomahawk, machete, billhook, or adze. Then join your local park volunteer trail crew so you have a place to use it.![]()

This. Sell the half you don't use and get some higher end stuff and/or a couple customs from the exchange or other secondary sources. I get more enjoyment out of a $600 custom than four production knives, easily.I vote you sell 10 of your least favorites\ least used. Then look for another. $500+ knife. Olamic makes really cool stuff that is highly customizable from the factory. Nice blades man!
Sounds like a good plan!I decided for the next month I will only carry 5 folding knives and see how that works for me I decided on:
Umnumzaan
Xm18
Super freek
Shaman
Xm24
I will keep my malibu in my car just for flipping
If it works out well I will do it for 2-3 months and sell what ever I don't feel like I'm missing out on
Thanks ill see if that works and maby I'll try each knife for a week if it doesn't do it for me it's goneSounds like a good plan!
Pix or it didnt happen.Update to my collection I traded my Clever girl , socom bravo, fossil, exo
For 3 nice fixed blades a fox friction folder, custom olamic wayfarer, spyderco k2, ano hinderer xm 24 ti scale and bronze
What do you guys think?
