So, I am not here to bash a well known maker so please don't ask me to name names. I had a $1500 project build that was suppose to take 3-4 months. Took 5 months. i"m okay with that. The knife finally came and the blade had scratches on it. almost like he cut stuff with the blade! The scales were damasteel, so the lock bar had a steel insert showing on the side. The insert was all scratched up (like it had been slid across a table multiple times) and even had a gouge on one of the sides. Is anyone else getting tired of this game? The builder did not fight me at all on returning it, thank God, but was like, sorry it was not what you wanted. Simple put, responded again that it was not the look but the condition it was in. I couldn't even sell it 10 minutes out of the box as new to someone. Trust me, I thought about fixing it myself and selling it to be non-problematic, but then I came to my senses. Thanks for reading my rant!

Oh, I will say that ATTN2DETAIL is putting out amazing knifes right now, so I just purchased one of his. Support your vets when you can.

Brother, if your dropping $1500 on a knife it had better arrive unscuffed and unused.

I had a maker with a $300 custom puukko do that and it totally sullied the experience. Testing performance is one thing but it should be cleaned up afterward.

At $1500 it should be damn near perfect, what you are describing would be unacceptable to me as well. But good on the maker to not give you any push back on the return. I am sure he/ she is not very happy about the result.

Totally. The reason I picked the project was that the maker makes impeccable knifes. I was blow away, but I also feel bad that it came down to a return. I’m sure if he simple cleaned it up he can give it to recon 1 or something. I thought if anything it would had been the opposite since he didn’t make the time line, which I never gave him grief about. The positive is that I am done smoking the $1500 crack pipe line of knifes. That one kind of put it in perspective. I would post pics but I know people will recognize the maker and he does seem like a good guy. He just F’ed up on this one.

Yea, at $1,500 the only defect should be based on personal preference. If a maker is sending a commissioned work out to a patient customer and hasn't fine tuned every single detail, I'd have to assume they don't take much pride in their work.

As a professional craftsman myself, I couldn't agree with you more.

Attn2details knives seem very expensive for what they are. And some of them are just plain ugly.

You should receive good makers name printed/etched and great packaging :^D

Basically that's all folks.

I would expect Alot for a $1500 knife......

But, This reads one way..... Then goes into a commercial.

I'd need to see these flaws for a more informed view.

That’s a shame. But don’t give up on customs. There are custom knives I own that are perfection …at less than $1500. Like anything in life there is a learning curve to it. Covid killed the knife show scene. Attending a knife show can give you way more knowledge than you can get on the internets.

If you’re spending what amounts to more than a mortgage payment for most people on a knife, I think you should get it exactly the way you want.

Yeah… jeez. I wish I had your knife budget.
I couldn’t even describe the features that would add up to a 1500 dollar knife. Maybe 100 dollar bill micarta scales.
