What to trade a Sebenza for?

I have owned a Sebenza for a couple months and have carried very few other knives since I got it. I know it sounds weird, but I think I want to trade it because I don't carry the rest of my knives. The Sebenza is really the exact knife I was looking for, but after getting one, I realized that I just need a knife to cut stuff not something as perfectly put together as the Sebenza is. My question is now that I have decent trading fodder, what are my options? I think the knife is valued somewhere around $290. What should I be looking at as far as Striders, customs, etc.?

What about a EDC fixed Blade, or are you looking at folders only?
I EDC both and I have to reach down to make sure they are both there, I never though I would EDC a fixed blade but I found a perfect one P.M. me if your interested.

About the only thing I would trade my Sebenza for, is another Sebenza. What kind are you thinking of trading?

I don't want to advertise for something in the trade forums, but to get an idea of what it's worth, it's a Large Regular with some customized thumb grooves.

I think the only thing I'd consider trading my Sebenza for would be Kemo and then only if I really really needed it.

Dude just calm down and give it some time. On occasion you will get an idea and at the time it seems to make sense but later youll realize you didnt really want it.

"I'm not worthy... I'm not worthy..."

It reminds me of the guys who buy a perfectly fine revolver - and pile it away in a safe. Like I tell them, it's a tool - use it! Don't abuse it... but keep the cobwebs off.

Now, if you want a 'beater' in S30V to carry when you might have to cut something really nasty, consider a Spydie Native or Buck #347 Vantage Pro - both S30V users and both $50-$60. That is far less than you'l lose in any trade or sale of your Sebenza. You will never be able to get another one as cheaply as the guy who gets yours. They are beautiful and functional pocket knives. If I could afford one, I'd open the mail, cat food, trim my lunch, you name it - and carry it on Sundays for sure. You are worthy - keep it!

Trade it for my Boker Wharcom straight up. I'll even pay for shipping. :)

Kidding.

Seriously though - keep it. Down the road you'll miss it and end up buying another one.

It's worth what someone will give you for it.
Speaking for myself, if those grooves were done by anyone other than CRK, I wouldn't be interested in it.

Oops, You are right. I didn't intendt to solicit a trade on the wrong forum. Just wanted a feel for what type of Sebenza you had. Personally, I think the plain Sebs are great users as IMO they look good even scratched up. I'd definately use it for awhile before I traded it off.

It's not that I don't like it, it's the fact that I have finally reached the point financially to be able to add stuff like Sebenzas to my collection only to realize that I don't need to keep it. I finally got one, I used it almost every day for a couple months, and now I'm ready to move on and try something else in this category. I have traded over 200 knives in the past few years and regret very few of them. I enjoy getting a knife if it's for nothing more than getting to get a feel for it then passing it on to somebody else. My taste change, and the trading forum has allowed me to change out my collection for about $5 a knife.

You will sell it, realize nothing else is quite as nice in that price range, and then buy another one.

I traded my first one for a highly-touted, custom frame lock by a well-known maker, and I was very disappointed. I made it my mission to save up for and buy another Sebenza after that, and I haven't looked back. I don't like all the glaring flaws having EDCed a Sebenza for so long makes me find in other folders.

It's like how everybody thought the LHW division was so good until they started fighting Lyoto Machida.

Who did the grooves?

Second, if it is perfect for you, don't be stupid. But if you are trying to get more higher end folders then sell off others in your collection. It is better to have quality over quantity. I second the Umnamzaan suggestion.

Trade towars a Strider CC:

But today when i worked in the yard i used my tenacious for rough cutting. I have Hinderers, sebs and striders and i can't make myself use any of them.

but for hard use and cutting in the kitchen i actually use the Strider RCC. this is a great user. Smooooth open and precise fit and finish to.

RCC is the last one on the end:

Just curious, but why does it matter who cut the grooves? You can see the picture and they are professionally done (I remember his old post, and he did the work).

Just trying to figure out why it would matter who did the work, instead of how the work looked? I could understand if someone just hacked at it with a dremel but that is obviously not the case.

Yup. I got a decent deal on this Sebenza because somebody had gone at it with a dremel. I machined the groves in my mill at work. I understand that some people like to have factory fresh, but as long as mods are not structural and are professionally done, I don't mind them in the least.

I say keep it, considering you got a good deal on it and you put some work into it. By the way, nice work. I agree, whatever mods are done to a knife they need to not weaken the design, be well-thought out and cleanly executed.

You will buy another one. Remember my post when you are clicking the button to buy the next one :D Once in a while you just need to hold one after you have owned and carried one. I don't carry mine all the time, but sometimes I've just got to. Put it away for 1 month. I bet you will go and get it from it's hiding place before the month is over :D

Definetley get rid of it. Get a nice strider rcc or AR, then later on you will get another Seb.You will get another sebenza! end of story.
