I would get a case slimline trapper, with enough leftover to pick up a buck solo this is what I am carrying today.

Queen's D2 #06L teardrop linerlock in curly zebrawood is still available for right at $60 shipped CONUS.

Case CV small stockman, Case CV Sowbelly, Case CV Sodbuster Jr., GEC F&F Bullnose, Queen Cutlery Country Cousin would top my list. I have all but the Sodbuster, Jr. The small stockman has dominated pocket carry for me since I got it, the bullnose and country cousin are both very nice... country cousin is a D2 blade and smaller/more comfortable in the pocket, but the bullnose feels more substaintial in the hand and is easier to sharpen in general. The case sowbelly is just a sweet design, and a real hefty knife. Can't go wrong with any of them, and all are under $60!

I would scrounge up an extra $5 and buy a GEC #15 Boy's Knife single clip blade, if I didn't already have one. They can be had for $65.11 shipped.

Alternatively, I'd buy a Buck 303 for under $30 and pick up a Case Mini Trapper or Sod Buster Jr, and maybe still have a couple of bucks left over.

As you can see OP, a lot of interesting stuff out there if you are a bit resourceful.

Consider this sturdy 2 blade Copperhead in carbon by Böker Germany, cost me less than 40 USD including postage to Europe

Another Böker well within the price-limit, their Medium Stockman, comes in other handle options too.

Then there's Buck's all stainless Solitaire in Cherrywood a really tidy carry under 25 USD this one.

Finally, let's not ignore Rough Rider's vast array. You can get 3 or 4 for your money. this one a Small linerlock Sodbuster in Smooth Bone and really well finished I must say.

has anyone had any experience with the boker trapper that has 1095 steel?

I really like the Boker. Great yellow bone handles and very smooth action. Medium pull on both blades, and reasonably sharp out of the box. Good luck.

No experience with the trapper, but I have two boker slipjoint knives with carbon steel blades. (One is 1095 the other is c75) Boker got the treatment right with both, they take a hold a nice edge! I am not sure where the trappers are made, but from my research the Boker knivs from Germany are better than the ones made in other areas of the world.

wow..lots of awesome suggestions...I went ahead and ordered a boker trapper with 1095 steel...in yellow smooth bone..got a good price on it so I have a little over half my money left to add another one

Honestly? At the moment I've been on a Rough Rider kick so I guess I would buy 6 or 7 Rough Rider knives.

I actually have 2 opinel knives coming....a number 8 and a number 6...my buddy owed me some money and he was gonna order himself a couple..nd I told him to order me a couple and we will call it even..should be here Tuesday or wednesday

MTURBO what are ur favorite rough riders?

I just started buying them and I'm very impressed with each one so far.
I have a couple Barlows, a peanut, a rigging knife and six of the French Kate leg knives.

I guess you could say my favorite at the moment are the French Kates. I plan on doing a torture test on a couple thirty packs to see how they hold up. They double as bottle openers ya know??:)
