what traditional do ou buy if u have 60 bucks burning a hole in ur pocket?

I think that for a low cost knife, by the time you pay the postage, it makes more sense to buy than trade.

And, are they TRADITIONAL knives???

NO.

Cost less than 60?? I rather doubt it.........

I never see any rough riders in the trading section...do most people not do the low end trading?

I bought a lot of close to 50 asst. RR and Colt knives on the exchange, mostly mint with boxes. You rarely see singles on the exchange though.

Robin

Gec bull nose, case sod buster Jr, case sod buster, victorinox pioneer or Farmer, buck 110\112, and any case yeller line, or there workman series, or what ever they call there black line.

I have a rotation of about 5 knives/tools that I choose from each day depending on what's ahead of me that day. The 2 traditionals that have never left the rotation are my Case Russlock and Medium Stockman- each can be had for under $60, and can take a beating. I do not have a GEC that was under $87 or that I'm willing to (ab)use, but if you can get any for close to $60, it would be a terrific purchase.

I think the previous answer is the best. Nice SAKs can be found on the web for $25, and it is always best to buy SAKs in pairs. They seem to be the most likely knife to be lost, misplaced, or borrowed.

Welcome to traditionals, steeltowninwv! Sorry about the snarky answer you got out the gate there, it looks like you've gotten many helpful answers after. You'll find this is a very welcoming subforum, in most cases.

Personally, I have a split opinion on the Quality vs. Value dilemma. On one hand, I really do think GECs are worth their price, and more, and are the best you can get. You would be happy with a Farm & Field #21, or a classic #15, or a nice little #22. On the other hand, I think Rough Rider puts out an incredible product for the price. I would go with a stockman, as they seem to do a good job with the spacing/kinking of the blades and it comes out to $5 or less per blade. Also, you could get a Victorinox Huntsman for about half your budget and have everything you really need in a knife, and even most of everything you need for daily carry.

I also see you opted to go first with a Boker Trapper. I don't have any experience with Boker's newer stuff, but my grandpa has an extremely old Boker that is really cool. I'm sure you'll be happy with it, and make sure to let us know how you like it!

Definitely not traditional, so they don't belong here, but they are under his price. A moderator can remove and admonish, let's be cordial even to those who are in the wrong.

I second the suggestion for a Case Mini Copperlock. I carried on for years and was reasonably pleased w/ the price/quality/utility of the knife. You should be able to get a nice one for under $60.00 US.

You received lots of great suggestions, and it looks to me like you ended up getting a lot of knife for your money.:thumbup:
Congrats on a very nice score, and enjoy that "variety pack" of trappers! :D

The OP got a very worthwhile Trio in my view.

Good luck with the GEC, the choice is daunting, fortunately!

Thanks, Will

I would stretch by $5 or $6 and buy a GEC single blade #15 Huckleberry Boys Knife.

ETA: sorry, I didn't see that the OP pulled the trigger.
