Out and about with the dog today

Avoidspam, Thanks for the Barlow compliment---what a great dog you have pictured:thumbup:, what breed of dog? Liked your fixed blade as well---looks like a great day in the woods.

Paul

Thanks Paul,

Not 100% sure what he is, I found him by the side of the road as a pup half starved with mange. He's a lurcher of some kind, so a mixture, definately some Collie (brains), probably some greyhound or whippet (speed) and possibly Bedlington Terrier, Irish Wolfhound (hunting instinct).

Perfect dog for me, I'm a ranger in a National Park and he comes to work most days:)

Reading this post, you might think I am infatuated with these knives, and I am to a certain degree.

I saw you mention them in a few other threads when I did a search, so I thought you'd be the right person to ask. I had seen what I now know was a 300 a few weeks ago, and passed on it, thinking it a little too big (and a lot too rough, in this particular case) -- now I know what to look for. Thanks for the detailed reply!

Wow! That's one lucky dog!
Good of you. :)

Today I carried a one hander for most of the day,
but switched to my Opinel #6 when I saw an orange that had to be made into a snack.
I havent really carried the Opinel yet, but starting a nice-looking patina makes me like it more.
I'll probably give it a ride tomorrow, but maybe not. I like everything but the thin blade. I'm not too convinced of it's strength yet.
Can't make up my mind. :D

I did it myself with some wet/dry sandpaper. I did the backspring also. Can't remember what grit since it's been a while. Here's a look at it from a different angle. The only shiny parts now are the edges.;)
