What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thank you Mr. Jack. I need to shop around the flea markets and antique stores and find me a well made old vice. So much better than the new ones.😊
Totally my friend, those Record ones are good, but you need to find what you can of course :)

Vices... 🤣

I realy like this old Lambs foot I got at the show,as soon as I saw it it reminded me of my GEC in construction, fit and feel.

You have no idea how annoyed I am with myself after scratching the blade sharpening it.

I like your new knife. A good patina will hide any little scratches.
With a good cell signal, my iphone downloaded your photos no problemo. I’d still be waiting if I were still using our old Gateway desktop with the “Brrrrp-Beep-Brrrp” 56K dialup.

Back about twenty years or so, when I discovered message boards, people would say “56K warning” when uploading a string of photos!😄

Hey, Jim~ thanks for telling that bit of autobiography!
Unfortunately, you left this part out ~

These will follow me around today.
Hope the burl does not cause Mr.Primble to much angnst.View attachment 1969603
Focusing on the knives, my peripheral vision first told my brain that you had a nice little pile of habanero peppers.
Do NOT slip one of those into your wife’s candy corn!

LOL! :D  We all have our vices ;)

That’s a high quality vise there that your other vice is leaning on!
I have an ancient Ceaftsman end vise from Grandpa that I used on the woodworking bench I built for guitar work. When I get home, I’ll shoot a photo.
It’s well worth the expense of buying an old vise. I once bought a new bench vise at a big box chain store, which was imported from a certain country. It looked very strong, with massive jaws, but when I used it for the first time, attempting to squeeze an Argentinian .45 slide for a better fit on a Colt frame, the vise simply came apart. I discovered that those massive jaws were pot metal with a thin outer hardened layer instead of solid forged steel.🤔

Are you sure you want his " vices" ?😁 sorry Jack

I often think of myself as being a knifeaholic and that I have accumulated too many knives, but, after seeing one of his posts (cigar boxes and drawers full of knives) the other day, I reasoned that I am not a knifeaholic at all. ........................... Mr. Jack is !

I then proceeded to order me another knife. 🤣

It is rather fitting, for a man known on the other side of the pond, as knife man. 😲😲🤣

Your words ring very true.

I have one fretful Friday knife I will need help deciphering. It will be in the French section.

Flipping heck what a glorious day to ride my bike, nothing makes me happier.

Its a bonus at this time of year.

Mostly dry roads (careful under the trees) sunny and so warm my hands where to hot in my winter gloves, what a complaint to have eh? 🤣

I took out this (imho underrated) later day classic on my travels.

I found a new greasy spoon with a bench in the sunshine, tea and toast £2.50, no sign of the Sunshine band (whose going to get that reference?) 😁

I had that as it reminds me of my youth on my first motorbike (we didnt have much money to spend).

My favourite souvenir from Spain is still green and racking up the miles with me.

Yep a fine day,suns out I'm out 😇

I stopped to take this photo as to me it’s just England.

Going with Mr. May aka, “The Beech Boy“ today after a shaky one yesterday. I was boxing up a knife to mail today when my house began moving back and forth. Having lived in SF for forty years we’ve experienced many quakes. Yesterdays 5.1 was nothing compared to the Loma Prieta in 89 which I experienced while riding my MC. Let me just say, imagine riding a motorcycle at 60MPH on a bowl of jello while it’s being shaken violently. 🤯

I've ridden bikes in various types of nasty weather, but an earthquake is outside my realm of experience. Holy Cow! eeksmaller.jpg

It was for me too! I was riding home from work in the East Bay heading back into the City to catch the World Series. While coming around the corner by Emmeryville Mud Flats my front tire started jumping back and forth. Thought I had a flat but when I rolled off the throttle and leaned over to look I saw the asphalt starting to crack open and knew immediately it was an earthquake. I looked to my left and saw all of the approach lanes to the Bay Bridge moving up and down. That was water from the Bay rushing in under them. The scariest part was getting back home after the the bridge was closed when part of the upper deck collapsed on to the bottom part. I’ll leave that story for another time. Needless to say it was a unique experience and not one I’d willingly repeat.
