What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This is my most "Halloween" knife.

Happy Halloween, folks.

I’ve been keeping it simple recently, primarily carrying this Opinel No. 8. I’ve paired it up with other knives here and there, but it’s been a constant for the last few weeks.

Took the girls out trick-or-treating tonight. Eleanor was Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. Scout was the Chick-fil-A cow. Hope y’all had a Happy Halloween! 🎃

The girl's and their costumes are awesome. Loved Eleanor's socks and boots ! 🎃🎃😊👻 I didn't get any trick or treater's this year. I reckon I have candy to eat.

Love your No.8 too.

I remember looking at those a few years back (I don’t know if they had already been discontinued at that point) and being a bit surprised by the price. Not exactly expensive, of course, but more than I expected I guess. Still an interesting knife.

Some old knives out on the table, ready for fettling this weekend. (don't worry. I won't get the Flitz confused with the Stuf)

Haha! The Oreos are for energy for the fettler. Only slightly disappointed that there's not quite as much Stuf as in the picture on the package. "The Most Stuf", yet I believe they could fit more Stuf in there if they really tried. 🤣

Remember pulling them apart in order to combine ones with the “stuff”?

I don’t care how much Stuf they stuff in there, I’ll still take them apart and combine them to double the amount of Stuf. This is why I, too, try not to keep that sort of thing in the house. 😁

Sat in the warm lightly polishing my old Barlow, flushing and oiling,it gets that little bit better each time though it’s not really necessary (I fiddle to much).

I wont polish it any more though the patina is a lot of its charm.

I love the way it opens (easy) and the snap.

While I am doing that its raining outside as I watch Freddie and Monica in Palermo Sicily, where the weather is absolutely perfect for a trip to the beach on the bike.

Jealous? not half 😁

I love that bolster stamp, so cool! 😎

I had these two with me this weekend when we boiled 42 bushels of stamen apples to make apple butter at our church.

We started cooking around 4:30 Friday afternoon. This was sometime late Friday night/early Saturday morning. Still a lot of steam (water in the apples.)

One of the kettles around 4:00 Saturday afternoon. Ready to be sugared and spiced. Notice the dark color and lack of steam; boiling the water out of the apples is what makes good apple butter. We cooked this batch just over 24 hours.

Today’s carry with the finished product. We ended up with 57 1/2 gallons of apple butter. Pretty good weekend; a lot of work, but a good time.

That’s really interesting. I think I remember you posting about it last year? I do love some apple butter on a nice biscuit. 😋

Salami cheese sounds… interesting? 😁

Awesome! 😎 🎃
