This is it! The stamp is faint, but it’s there about a half inch in front of the bolster. Do you have any idea how old it might be?

If you mean what I think you mean, those were supposed to have come out after the Civil War, so one-armed men could open their pocketknives by hooking that cusp on the edge of something and rotating the handle.I sometimes see some Barlow knives with a barber notch. Always wondered about that. Can anybody explain the function behind that?
Okay, that makes sense. If you mean what I think you mean, those were supposed to have come out after the Civil War, so one-armed men could open their pocketknives by hooking that cusp on the edge of something and rotating the handle.
And/or, some people think a pocketknife blade that looks like a straight razor is cool.
You're welcome.Okay, that makes sense.
I shave with a straight, and like the notch. It makes sense there, because ... well, nose. Always wondered about the pocketknife.
Making it a bit proud so one handed seems handy.
Thanks!
Thanks! It was my pleasure to post it.![]()

Wow - I love it !
It could be anywhere from 1890 to 1940.
I darkened your pic and cropped it to see the stamp or etch.

I’ve been enjoying your posts for the past few months my man. Your selections of customs and GEC’s are so good. The two Richie jacks are spot on and I especially love this jigged bone model. Very cool!!!
Yessir…great pair. I started off convinced that I wasn’t a spear fan. Then I came to my senses. Spear + long pull is such a good look- especially on these two.Awesome knife!! I love the Winchester black box knives, especially the ones with the dark jigged bone.
Mine for today

A momentary slip of attention WILL teach you to respect the edge!
Thanks, Todd. I like that big clip blade more than I expected I would. Also glad not to find any more garbageYour forum knife is looking good Bart, and it’s nice to see that beautiful countryside undefiled by human waste.![]()
Thanks, Bob. I’m losing lease ground every year but I’m fortunate to still hold on to a few good places. That backdrop for your fine knife looks like wonderful country Bart.
Thanks, FC. Sounds like an awesome mug! Most of the places I graze are right outside of town and close to landfills, so the trash dumping happens all the time. Usually it’s in front of a gate, that time the fence was down so they drove on in.![]()
Yesterday evening's carry ( I don't drink beer in the mornings ).
Sacto sorry to see how others are treating your property. I have to blame poor parenting for people to act with such disregard. I do always pick through trash dumped at our house (with gloves), sometimes you find a name and sometimes you find some good stuff in there. Once when in the midst of demolition work on the house I had a 40yd dumpster out back. Came out one morning to find someone had been helping me fill it up, so I promptly climbed in there and found one of my all-time favorite coffee mugs, a Star Trek Next Generation mug that de-cloaks a Klingon Warbird when hot
Not as good as when my neighbor found 400 in cash in a grocery bag blown against her fence, though
Nothing like diving your own dumpster!
It’s an awful feeling when you realize a knife is gone. Glad you found it.![]()
Replacing a hose bib this morning, then on the dentist (again). I actually lost my Davison last week, noticed it missing after I got home from the drill 'n fillImmediately called, and the receptionist found it wedged in the crack of the chair I'd been suffering in
. I take this as a lesson not to put handbuilts in my watch pocket, and as a metaphor for what sitting in that chair does to my knife budget.
Is that allowed?
