Gevonovich, try and get out there, even if you only can get away for a short time, it will be worth it.

I love seeing all the pictures of this knife in the different threads. Your work on the slimmed-down Buck's and corresponding rehandling, and other work that you do, are just fantastic.

Thank you Turk. It is an enjoyable hobby.

This Friedrich Hartkopf is with me once again... hard to keep that nice knife out of the pocket

I am absolutely loving my White Owl....

....such a perfect pocket knife. Really need to sort out a more fitting lanyard though.

My problem with hikonogami is that it basically needs some sort of pouch or other solution to keep the blade closed. It has tendency to open in the pocket very easily.

That's reason why I rigged up this lanyard for my Higo. It does a pretty good job of holding it closed too. Just ordered a Rough Rider Dog Bone Muskrat though, since it comes with one of those open top slippie sheaths with a pocket clip.

For some reason, I felt like having a Cat along today...

... just possibly influenced by having new little house guests.

some people pinch the higonokami scales so the blade nests very tightly. But by contrast, a Douk Douk cannot possibly open itself in your pocket..

here is a bit of info about getting a sheath for your higonokami:
"In order to improve the grip I have bought a traditional Japanese leather sheath for my higo no kami Dai, which looks like a traditional sheath for folders but is open on the back an spots a lanyard hole. You put the higo no kami Dai in this sheath, then put a leather strap through the lanyard holes both of the sheath and the knife (thereby also securing the knife to the sheath). To open the knife, pull it up and out by the protruding tang, open it and then push it back into the leather sheath with now serves as a kind of leather scales to the handle. The grip is greatly improved by this and I am told that many Japanese carry their higo no kamis this way."

"it is really not a pocket knife at all. If you put it in your pocket, everyday jingles and movement will open the blade with disastrous results to your pocket and maybe your leg. My advice is to make or get a small leather pouch for it"

and a picture of both a leather sheath,

and a very unusual bone one
