What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Kevin, that little cutout is where the blade engages the stop pin in the closed position. If I rotate the blade closed with my index finger in position, the edge does not contact my finger, just the notch and flat part.

I'm anticipating the need to pop open a few beers after work today. So I'll be keeping my grandpa's old Kabar Scout Knife close at hand.

Gotcha, thanks for the explanation, Duane. I also was wondering what is the handle material on the friction folder? Its so translucent and deep/rich/striking IMHO.

It almost looks like photos you see from NASA :)

It is the Paperstone that ~P gifted me... There is a WIP thread on this knife in the JK Forum if you want to see how it came together...
And thanks! I call it constellation blue :)

Yup!

Sitflyer made his knife handle (and that of another, previous) from the same Paperstone used on my custom Terrio-- meaning, not just the same type of material, but from the exact same slab. He's just finished the Paperstone a higher gloss (amazing, the depths revealed!), while I preferred a satin finish on the handle of my Strix. Speaking of which....
