What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This morning the toilet started running all by itself. The part of the float that pivots against the shutoff valve spontaneously detached itself, i.e. broke off and was laying in the bottom of the tank.
Used the screwdriver, punch and scissors on the Pioneer X during the replacement. No action pics 🙃

A #56 tribute to a fellow knife collector, Rob Slaney sadly passed away in March this year, the #56 was his favourite of all the GEC's and our UK based knife club was fortunate enough to have this run done in dyed camel bone, everyone unique, just like Rob!
A massive THANK YOU to Darren Spratt, our club founder, everyone at Great Eastern Cutlery and to Charlie Campagna for the use of the "Rob's Choice" tag.
R.I.P my friend!
🙏
Sombre occasion but a fine tribute, Bone on that is really beautiful and works to great effect on this pattern

Thanks, Will

Mexican Bocote makes a gorgeous knife scale! I bought two small billets of imported wood from Woodcraft a couple of years ago-Bocote and African Bubinga. Both are great looking wood ~ but HARD! The Bubinga will dull a saw fast. The Bocote worked a little easier, and I used it on a TL-29 mod. I’ll shoot a pic when I get home….
A cloudy start to the day in the City by the Bay! Looks like it will clear up later. Having new windows installed on the top floor bedroom and office. Dang good windows are not cheap! The old ones were leaking so it needed to be done. Keeping me company today is the usual lamb and SAK Executive. Have a great week folks! 😀

Well, ya know, it only leaks when it’s raining! 😙
We inve$ted in all new windows a couple of years ago, including the big bay windows in the living room, all bedrooms ~ everything. Even replaced two little non-opening octagonal windows with crank out opening in the master bedroom and bath, and that did wonders for cross ventilation. It was worth the expense. Less gas and electricty being used, easy to open, and fewer bugs coming in for the winter.
For the last three years, we've cut back on watering the yards because our aquifer that feeds our well has been depleted quite a bit but this year we've had so much rain that the aquifer has been replenished and then some. According to our airport on the outskirts of town we've had eight inches plus of rain over the last week. Just for the heck of it, I'll carry this 440C stainless GEC today. I'd think it would be impervious to most anything what with it's stainless blade and micarta covers. By the way. I think the etch on the bolsters is gaudy, not appealing, grotesque, and just plain ugly. I've been thinking about grinding the bolster etch out or maybe just covering it with painters tape. Eggs up and sausage for breakfast.

You’re killing me with the rain stories, Ed! My son near Denver has also been getting plenty, and the garden I helped him build is thriving.

I’m surprised you don’t like the Oak Leaf bolsters. 🤔 If it were mine, I’d hit it with green paint, and wipe it off the high spots to just leave it in the engraving.
But painter’s tape would do.😃
Hooe you’re having a good day, my friend.
Nice work

Cool pairing Gary :)

Thanks Jeff, that's a great choice :) I have an old Vic, which they called a Farmer's Knife:

They seem to choose some of the names rather randomly though. In 1991, I recall raising this subject, in an article, in relation to the knife, which was then called the Golfer, suggesting they might call it something like the Compact :D

A no-nonsense pair for work Jeff, they look good together :) Thanks buddy, hope you have a good week :)
Thanks, buddy. If the knives don’t work, I’m not doing it right. 🤔
I knew you’d have some interesting input, given your career writing about and reviewing all things knives!🤙
Love that antique Farmer’s Knife.

We do indeed share similar tastes in knives, Steve. My twin of your 23 is due for some lovin.
The rendezvous pick ups are entering the carrying rotation. First up is the 77 SFA in antique yellow jigged bone. Picture taken at the Oil Creek State Park just south of Titusville.

That’s a beauty! I’ll have to re-check the Renezvous thread for more drooling.

It sounds like maybe they came up with a more equitable way of dealing with the rush to get in the door?
Took this picture this morning while I was sitting on my deck having my coffee, in jeans and a hoodie! I would’ve started a fire but everything is still pretty wet from the rain Sunday morning. Hope everyone is having a great day. 😎👍View attachment 2216810
Nice Case Jack, Todd! 🤙

You might have something there with the green paint Jeff Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund . Might just put it in it's tube and let it sit in the dark for awhile. Anything could happen. :)

I’ve never worked it before but you are 100% right…it is beautiful. I need to send you my TL to get that ultra special Fleschwund spa treatment with some new wood (or dog chew) covers!

Thanks Jon. Two great knives I got from one great guy. 😉 The 77 just begs to be used and I’m happy to oblige. And thanks. I think I’m going to get A LOT of miles out of this wallet.
