What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Still carrying my 1890 Opinel

When I can shave off wood from this rock hard burl and still pop hairs off it makes me wonder why Opinel Carbon got a rep for being soft and weak.

I don't see this one going anywhere soon. Sometimes its refreshing to appreciate simple carbon steel and wood. The good stuff in life does not have to be expensive, sometimes a little care and maintenance bonds me to a knife more than anything.

I've continued to carry the little #26 most recent days, and keep it near even when not. In doing so, I've been repeatedly reminded of this juxtaposition from when I posted my picture over a week ago, and the pictures that immediately followed-- two very different stages in the life of an ivory #26!

Cool, to see one that's clearly been used.

I had the #26 in-pocket again today, including during the Turtle Walk earlier in the day. This evening, I used it-- along with the Strix and a Galleywag currently on loan from protourist-- to work at a potential walking stick I cut from the woods last fall.
