What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Bob's correct Barney, made in Germany, between WW1 and WW2. 'Warranted Forged Steel' is also a very typical mark for these knives

Have a great weekend everyone

Fine pair of knives!

In the US, I am a southerner
In Texas, I'm a Yankee. 🤣

Tomato and p’nut butter sandwiches are very good, but please let’s keep it a secret😆
Have you tried peanut butter and onion? It's surprisingly tasty. 😋👍

I've got my newest old knife all sharpened up and ready to carry:

You must've in the northern panhandle
Haha!
My family is from Pennsylvania, and Texans call anything to the north and east "yankee".
It's funny that Yankee really means Connecticut, but the farther you are from there, the bigger the region is, until all Americans were called "yanks". That probably didn't sit well with boys from Dixie. 🤣

Staying home today but going out for dinner tonight. The nephew that did the painting for us wouldn't take money for the job so, we're taking him and his family out for dinner at the Brass Rail Restaurant tonight. I'll be totin my SOG Stingray and a modern knife for the occasion. Hash and eggs for breakfast.

... so wherever you are, its not made "here" it almost does not exist and was never made.
Schrodinger's knife.

Proudly wear that "Southerner" badge my friend.
Only way to drink it.
I drink my ice tea straight up. No sweetener. No lemon. I'm in a minority as Missourians mostly subscribe to the "sweet tea is the only tea" school of thought.

In Texas, I'm a Yankee. 🤣
The difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee:

A Yankee goes down south, looks around, says, "My isn't this pretty" and goes home.

After a long week I decided to sit out back and see what kind of spoon was hiding inside this little piece of basswood.

Update: Figured out what kind of spoon. The tiny kind.

You seem to have developed quite a talent for carving spoons. 🤙
Do you make them in enough quantity to sell? Or should I ask, is there a market for handmade spoons? And can you get enough $ for them to pay for your time?
You’d have to distinguish your work from the cheap imported stuff.

Several years ago, I learned how to cut, grind, and polish bottleneck slides our of wine bottles. At the time, Vik was working at a local private golf club, and ahe cooperated by bringing empty bottles home for me, ~ hundreds of bottles. I tried many, but found that the necks of some red wine bottles were ideal, so she focused on them.
I had thought about selling them as a way to make money, but after seeing how cheaply some sellers sold them on ebay, that killed that idea. I spent way roo much time on each one. You can cut and grind a slide pretty fast, but taking them all the way and polishing the glass takes a lot more time. Which meant I’d have to price them way higher than so many available online.
I did make a little money by participating in a fall craft sale at the farm. I put little custom made hang tags on them, put them in a nice cigar box, and put them in a table along with all of the grapevine wreaths I’d made. I did sell four or five, at $25 each, which surprised me because this fall craft walk is not really a guitar oriented affair. Sold a lot more of the grapevine wreaths 🤪
Hey ~ a guy has to do something after gardening work is over.
I occasionally give them away as gifts to guitar playing friends, and of course, use them myself. I have them laying all over the house. 😬
Very handaome animal, Greg! And love the great looking custom knife. Does he call it a Trapper?

Unless you need a screwdriver, or some other Swiss Army Knife like tool, an elegantly simple Jackknife will do all the cutting you need. 👌

Wait…there’s more than one way to drink sweet iced tea? I can’t imagine anyone in the world drinking it differently. Do people drink it any other way? I doubt it. Here in South Carolina they grow tea leaves at the base of Table Rock Mountain. I don’t know if that’s the stuff in my WalMart brand tea bags or not, but it probably is. The tea is probably from over there in Pickens County…you know…in that area in between Possum Kingdom, Tigervillle, and Pumpkintown…or over in North Georgia near the Georgia Winery. I hear they make some fine wines over there too. 😎😁🤓.

Forgive my humor. Especially my southern humor.
I am a coffe drinker. Hot tea once in a great while, maybe an herbal, occasionally. But Vickie is the tea drinker in our family, hot and iced tea all day. A genuine tea enthusiast. And she HATES sweet tea. When we go to Georgia, she always has to specify NOT sweet tea. 😂

A Scrimshaw Sharpfinger for Schrade Saturday! 🤙😀
That is an extremely well designed blade shape. Super versatile and useful pattern. I have it’s big brother with the same shape, the 15OT Deerslayer, which is less of an acceptable carry out in public due to it’s size. I could tuck that one of yours in a front pocket, and tote it discretely anywhere.
I’ll be looking for a Sharpfinger at the next knife show.

Aliens landed in my yard!!!

Time to quit admiring your beautiful knives and do some chores but to be clear, there are no flesh and blood aliens hidden away. Is there life in the universe? Absolutely. Is there intelligent life that teaches each other like humans? Maybe. However, the distance between solar systems is simply too far for them to make the trip. Using our fastest spaceship it would take 50,000 years to reach the nearest star. During the trip background cosmic radiation (particles smaller than an atom moving near the speed of light) would destroy the craft and any flesh and blood creatures within. Even well protected astronauts get DNA damage on short jaunts outside the protection of our planet's magnetic field. Believe in science, not superstition. Italian sauce slow cooking, house smells amazing. Polished off all the patina during maintenance on my well used 83, 24 hours after making pico developed this nice onion/garlic patina. Enjoy the weekend!

Thin sliced sweet onions are perfect for a PB&O sandwich! Pickles and pb sounds odd, but I thought that about the onion, so I'll give it a try.

No it didn't. That is ok. When I worked in South Florida I was considered a Yankee by the locals. I was born and raised north of Interstate. I-10.

There is sweet tea and then swwwwweeeeeeetttt tea. The swwweeeeeeettt stuff is akin to pancake and waffle syrup. I like my tea unsweetened.

I am a coffee drinker as well. Fresh cup beside me as I type. Tea is only iced. My wife is a hot tea drinker. She will not drink coffee. A lot of places only have pancake syrup sweet tea. I am shocked they did not bring her hot water, a tea bag a glass of ice and a mug so she could brew her own unsweetened tea.
Sharpfinger design is perfect for deer skinning for me. Tip of index finger on spine just behind the point and it works great. It has enough heft to split rib cage and other joints but not so much that it cannot do a perfect caping job
