What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Taylor Schrade (I think ... pretty sure I bought it before Taylor sold to BTI) offshore OLD TIMER 858OTB
Genuine saw cut bone covers (faux Delrin?) with 9CR18MoV blade steel. Supposedly "close" to 440C in performance and corrosion resistance. The heat treat seems to be right. Holds an edge longer than my USA 440A and 420HC blades, at any rate.

Sharpens easy (MUCH easier than a 440C era Buck 110 ... tho the keener factory edge geometry probably has a lot to do with that. Buck's 50 to 60 degree inclusive edge left a bunch to be desired. I think they ran their 440C on the high side for hardness, too. I remember Arkansas oil stones took a long while to do their thing when sharpening a 110.)

Since the vintage 858's in good condition are getting somewhat rare ... and spendy ... I'll probably start toting this and my offshore 858OT more. If something happens to my vintage 858. I can't afford to replace it.

These two beauties today.

Sweet pair, Jeremy. Hard to beat those two. Selling my cattle knife will go down as one of the dumbest things I have done 🤣🤣
Thanks Paul, I agree, noting your Kroo lamb for today as well. Also, I’ve been keeping an eye out for one to get back into your collection. That venture has proven unsuccessful so far.
