A cloudy start to the day here in the City by the Bay! I am also staying home tonight to many amateurs on the road. Watching some football and talking it easy. Keeping me company a fancy lamb and the Modoc Special. Have a great New Year’s Eve celebration!

Ring pull knives are interesting. I've never had the opportunity to handle one in person. Does it effectively lock the blade open? Or is there another purpose? Canal Street made a run of these a few years ago. Cool little knife

Hi Mike,
as far as I can tell it is a device to assist opening only, there is no locking function, the pin does not pull out it only twists parallel to the blade opening/closing direction. A big help to old arthritic fingers I suspect.
That is a brilliant idea though which I might take to the drawing board.

I take this to my thursday poker night, I place it on my cards after I receive them.i won so it's staying the week lol.i think I might force a patina,people ask to look at the knife and ask why it's dirty.i don't want to have to keep answering that it's carbon etc.

Same here. There's too much drinkin', drivin', and shootin' off fireworks around here on New Years Eve. I might step outside to watch for grass fires or bottle rockets on the roof at midnight.

The peasant way is very good though
Freehand stone sharpening is an essential skill and one I definitely wish I was better at it
